Samlingsutgåvan med den Judske lowbog och dess följdskrifter och som trycktes av Madz Vingaard 1590 utkom i ett antal varianter och anonyma omtryck eller ”pirate editions” som de kallas i Thesaurus. De ska enligt Nielsen (och registret) bestå av åtta delar, vilka samtliga finns med här. Samtliga dessa delar är i detta exemplar i omtrycket av Jørgen Hantsch, tryckta mellan 1615 och 1623. I detta samlingsband ingår dessutom ”Hvad en falsk Eed...” och ”Konning Christian den fierdis recess”, vilka är separata och inte ingår inte i utgåvan av lagsamlingen. Bibl. danica nämner dock att dessa båda ibland finns medbundna i omtrycket från 1615. Kristian IV:s recess är dock i andra tryckningen, efter 1629.Denne viktiga utgåva av den Jyske Lov är reviderad och utgiven av Niels Kaas og Erik Krabbe. Samlingen utkom i ytterligare en upplaga, ”paany igien oplagt”, av Jørgen Holst 1642, följd av nya utökade upplagor 1668 och 1670. Ersatt blev den först med införandet av den Kristian V:s Danske Lov 1683.Boktryckaren Jørgen Hantsch var verksam i Köpenhamn mellan 1615 och 1629, i nära samarbete med Waldkirchs tryckeri. Det är sannolikt en son till honom, med samma namn, som var verksam som boktryckare först i Sorø och senare på 1660-talet under namnet George Hantsch i Stockholm (Ilsøe, Boktrykkerne i København s. 48).

Leopold Trattinnick (1764-1849) was an Austrian botanist, who published some of the greatest Austrian works on fungi, such as: ”Fungi austriaci delectu”. He was curator of the k.k. Hof-Naturaliencabinette from 1809 to 1835.

With all the 63 illustrations, 21 on separate plates and 42 vignettes, doubled in two different states, one before letters and one after. They are made after Adolphe Lalauze and engraved by Léon Boisson. The French book binder Henri Adrien Noulhac (1866-1931) set up his workshop in Paris in 1894. Specialized initially in plain leather bindings (reliures jansenistes) and copies of 18th-century bindings. By 1900 he had begun to incorporate modest floral emblems into the dentelled fillet borders on his covers.Madame Campan or Jeanne-Louise-Henriette Genêt Campan (1752-1822) was one of Marie Antoinettes closest lady-in-waiting. She remained so up until the French revolution and the storming of the Tuileries Palace by the revolutionaries in 1792. She survived the terror although she lost all her material possessions but made comeback during Napoleon I as a superintendent of the academy at Écouen for the education of orphaned daughters of members of the Légion d'honneur in 1807. Her memoires were first published postumously in 1822.

Part 10, with the missing gathering, is in a printing from 1797 (Stafleau mentions only 1800). François Rozier published volume 1-8 and posthumously volume 9. He was killed in action in 1793. Part 10 was issued with an engraved portrait of Rozier and a biography by A. J. Dugour. Part 11 and 12 forms an appendix, part 11 with an introduction by A. Thouin. With several entries and plates on graps, pears, apples, mechanical tools for agricultural works, gardenings etc, etc. Jean-François Rozier (734-93) was a french botanist and agronomist, working a period together with J. J. Rousseau.

Fine provenance. George Grote and Nils Samuel von Koch were brothers-in-law. First editions, except volume 7, 8 and 11 that are in the second, of George Grote’s important history of classical Greece, from the mythical beginning to the end of Alexander’s Empire. With a total of 21 maps and plans and 1 portrait.George Grote (1794-1871) was not only a highly influential historian of classical Greece but also a political radical. In 1820 he was married to the biographer Harriet Lewin (1792–1878), sister to Frances Eliza Lewin (1804-88) who was married to the Swedish liberal jurist and politician Nils Samuel von Koch (1801-81). Koch like Grote was very engaged in the social questions of his time, such as education, penalty laws and prisons, voting rights etc. and their home in Stockholm was a network for the liberal elite. Thanks to his wife and her family they also had a broad English network.

Den finns även publicerad i 1575 och 1583 års utökade upplagor av Albert Krantz "Rerum Germanicarum historici". Förordet är undertecknat med Rantzaus pseudonym Christianus Cilicius Cimber. Henrik Rantzau (1526-98) var ståthållare över Slesvig-Holstein och bosatt på slottet Breitenburg. Hans skildring av kriget då fadern, Johan Rantzau, erövrade landskapet Ditmarsken, vilket kom att delas mellan Danmark och Holstein-Gottorp, är en viktig källa till kriget, och till hertigdömet Holsteins historia. Rantzau var mycket bildad och skrev även en historik över Fredrik II, "Res gestæ Friderici II" (1589). Hans berömda bibliotek på Breitenburg skingrades efter att Wallensteins trupper plundrat slottet 1627. Orientalisten och lärdomsgiganten Johan Gabriel Sparwenfeld (1655-1727) reste 1677 ut på sin första resa och passerade på hemresan Köpenhamn, där han mellan 2 mars och 6 april köpte åtskilliga böcker, bl.a. kung Valdemars jordebok och troligen denna (se Jacobowsky s. 46ff). Under alla sina följande resor kom han att införskaffa mängder av böcker och handskrifter. Han donerade sedan många av sina böcker till olika bibliotek, t.ex. sällsynta böcker och manuskript på arabiska, persiska etc. till Uppsala.

A collection of four works by the great humanist Justus Lipsius (1547-1606), the leading scholar of classical texts, and a moral and political theorist. ”De cruce libri tres”, first published in 1599, is about the use of crucification as an execution form in the ancient time, with very informative illustrations. ”Diva Virgo Hallensis” and ”Diva sichemiensis sive aspricollisis” are both tracts about Virgin Mary, the first about the staty of Mary in Halle and the other about Mary in Scherpenheuvel, a town in Belgium, where Mary performed a miracle in AD 1500. Both are in the second edition, originally published in 1604 resp. 1605. ”Lovanium”, also in the second edition (first published 1605), is a description of the town and academy of Louvain, were Lipsius for a time was professor, with plates by Iodocus vander Baren.

Warmholtz 5319 resp. 5320. Åhlen, Ord mot ordningen, s. 58. Första verket är ett samlingsband (kallas ibland ”Acta Patkuliana”) och innehåller skrifter motsvarande Bring 1:5, 7-10, 14). Bring 1:6, ”Solida sed modesta”, är endast känd i ett exemplar (KB) och är inte heller här medbundet. Sista delen ”Collectanea Livonica” innehåller handlingar för åren 1561-1691 rörande det livländska ridderskapets privilegier. Detta försvar av Johan Reinhold Patkul och angrepp på den svenska domen över honom var förstås för mycket för den svenska censuren och den 18 december 1701 brände skarprättaren, efter en utfärdad tryckt kungörelse, offentligt upp boken vid ”Kåken” i Stockholm, d.v.s. vid skampålen på Stortorget. Därefter var den förbjuden i Sverige. Warmholtz konstaterar dock att den blivit mer allmän ”nu för tiden”. Motskriften ”Rättmätigh näpsst”, och dess latinska översättning, är enligt Bring möjligen skriven av hovkanslern Johan Bergenhielm, som var åklagare i målen mot ”förrädaren” Patkul. När denna skrift kom i Patkuls händer ska han ha förmått tsar Peter att bränna den på motsvarande sätt i Moskva som ”Deduction” blivit bränd i Stockholm. Processen mot Patkul inleddes i mars 1694 och i december samma år dömdes han i sin frånvaro att mista högra handen, samt ära, liv och gods. Några före år 1701 tryckta skrifter rörande domen finns enligt Bring troligen inte. Först 1706 fick Karl XII som bekant Patkul utlämnad till sig i Altranstädt och först den 10 oktober 1707 kunde domen verkställas. Om upplysningsfilosofen och professorn i juridik i Halle Christian Thomasius (1655-1728) skall anses som författare eller som utgivare av samlingen verkar oklart, han och Patkul var sedan tidigare vänner och han var väl rätt person att vända sig till för att få en försvarsinlaga. Thomasius arbetade för en humanare straffrätt och anses ha bidragit till avskaffande av tortyr och häxprocesser.

Sebastian Franck (1499-1542) was a 16th-century German protestant freethinker, humanist, and radical reformer. He converted from Roman Catholicism and served as a Luteran pastor in Nürnberg. He soon however departed from Martin Luther's views and joined the Anabaptist community in Nürnberg. In 1529 he left even them and moved to Strassbourg where he become more and more critical of all ecclesiastical institutions and adopted a fully spiritualist position. He was of course expelled from Strassbourg and he moved to Ulm, from where he in 1539, the same year as the publication of ”Was gesagt sei”, was expelled again. Åkerlund & H. Salmson, after E. Fries. Detta är den illustrerade praktupplagan de svenska svamparna. De fina planscherna är huvudsakligen efter teckningar av Elias Pettersson och Petter Åkerlund. Svampbeskrivningarna hade tidigare publicerats i ”Monographia hymenomycetum Sueciae, (1857-63) och de praktiska detaljerna delvis i ”Anteckningar öfver de i Sverige växande ätliga svampar” (1836). Även i detta verk justerar dock Fries detaljer i sina släkt- och artnamn. Till skillnad från de tidigare mykologiskt rent vetenskapliga verken hade detta stora arbete även en folkbildande praktisk funktion, att höja medvetenheten om svamparnas användning och värde. Här omtalas var man äter svamp, giftsvampar, svampars beståndsdelar, insamlingsråd, uppväxt och fortplantning m.m. Verket fick en enastående verkan och blev starten för en snabbt växande svensk populärmykologi, och det följdes snabbt av billigare och enklare verk med färgillustrationer av svampar, av mykologer som J. W. Smitt och N. J. Andersson. Elias Fries (1794-1878) från Femsjön i Småland, ofta kallad ”mykologins fader”, blev snabt ett världsnamn inom botaniken och framförallt inom mykologin. Hans stora genombrott, ”Systema mycologicum”, började utges redan 1821. Hans världsrykte stärktes genom verk som ”Epicris systematis mycologici” (1836-38), ”Hymenomycetus Europaei” (1838) m.fl. Han främsta insatser låg inom systematiken och beskrivningen av svamparna. Han tillhörde dock den romantiska naturuppfattningens så hans indelning i klasser och underklasser är numera obsolet, men ”...his distinction of different spore colors still has important taxonomic value, and he is especially remembered for his ability to describe species.” (DSB).Carl Edvard Stjernström (1816-77) var skådespelare och teaterdirektör och verksam i både Sverige och Finland. Han var 1855-63 direktör och ägare av Mindre Teatern samt grundare och direktör för Svenska teatern i Stockholm 1875-77. Anders Bohlin (1936-2020) var botaniker och mykolog, författare till bl.a. ”Halle- och Hunnebergs flora”. Han var tillsammans med hustrun Karin välkänd som svampkännare och ledare av svampexkursioner.

He worked for the Wolfenbüttel library and the academy in Helmstadt and become principal for the gymnasium at Schoeningen. His edition of Adam of Bremen is one of the best and most important. Gervase of Tilbury or Gervasius Tilberiensis was a 13th century canon lawyer, statesman and writer. Dietrich Engelhus or Theoderich Engelhusen (c 1362-1434) was a Germen teacher and augustiner in Wittenberg. He is most known for this Weltchronic, ”Chronicon continens res ecclesiæ et reipublicae”.

First edition of Chemnitz’ important work on the constitution of the Holy Roman Empire and a critic of its Habsburg rulers. The work was prohibited and burnt in the Habsburg countries when published. From 1647 new editions were published, and it was met with several replies and comments.Bogislaus Philip von Chemnitz's (1605-78) ”Dissertatio” has long been recognized as one of the most important and successful works of international law composed during the Thirty Years War, and it formed a starting point for a new discussion about the constitution. Chemnitz’ conclusion was that the Holy Roman Empire not should be viewed as monarchical but as an aristocracy composed of various sovereign political entities. Chemnitz was recognized by the Swedish chancellor, Axel Oxenstierna, who took him into Swedish service and he worked for the Swedish interests in the Westphalian Peace discussions. If he worked at the behest of the Swedes already during the work of the ”Dissertatio” is still under discussion. Later, he produced the large offical Swedish history of the war, ”Königlischen Schwedischen in Teutschland geführten Kriegs”, published in folio in 1648-53.

The important first German edition of this famous refutation of many superstitions of the time. Originally published in Dutch in four parts 1691-93.Balthasar Bekker (1634–98) was a German-Dutch clergyman, theologian and philosopher. Bekker casts doubt over the ideas of spirtual powers and diabolical possession, drawing on the philosophy of Descartes and Spinoza. He especially critizises the witch trials that plagued northern Europe at the time. His denial of the power of the devil on earth got him into trouble with the church, but his contribution played an important part in early enlightenment and in the ending of witchcraft persecutions.

The originals ”Guida alla chimica” and ”Nuova guida alla Chimica” were published in Modena 1672 and Venice 1677 respectively. The Dutch translation ”De brandende Salamander” was published in 1680. The German translation is made by Johann Lange M[edicinae] C[andidatus]. The book is a manual, teaching the proper preparation of all manner of tinctures and medicaments. The first chapter is a presentation of chemistry in general and of the tools to be used, the second chapter deals with herbs and plants, the third with minerals. The fourth, fifth and sixth chapters concern Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Sol and Luna (i.e. lead, tin, copper, iron, gold and silver.) The last chapter is called ”Der auffgeweckte Chymist” and presents medicaments that are handy to have in the pharmacy, some of the author’s own invention.

Carlander, Förteckning öfver skrifter författade af svenska kungliga personer, nr 18. De sista nio sidorna innehåller regler och goda politiska råd från, påstås det, Karl IX till Gustav II Adolf. I förordet till dessa beskrivs även Karl IX som regent och person. Varifrån dessa regler kommit är enligt Warmholtz mycket oklart. En översättning till svenska publicerades av Erik Ekholm i ”Omväxling af små, nögsama och nyttiga skrifter”, Stockholm 1759. Carlander nämner att Schönberg betvivlade textens äkthet, men att Olof Sundel gav en möjlig förklaring. Enligt Sundel kan någon ha kommit över innehållet från dels en handskriven minnessedel förvarad på Riksarkivet och dels från ett brev från kungen till Gustav Adolf från år 1608, där han ger många ”förmaningar och lärdomar”, och sedan sammanställt dessa och gett ut denna översättning. Enligt Sven Ulric Palme i SBL är det fortfarande (1975) ovisst huruvida Karl IX är författare till dessa politiska råd till Gustav Adolf eller inte. Mycket ovanlig i alla fall!

Träsnittsramen är densamma som användes till Nya Testamentet 1549-50 (i Hiertakatalogen (post nr. 1190) kallad för den ”Lamensonska ramen”, vilket troligen är felskrivet för ”Laurentssonska”). Fint exemplar av första upplagan av Loccenius första större rättsvetenskapliga arbete! Det tillkom när Loccenius var professor i romersk rätt och var avsedd att vara en handbok i detta ämne. Det är även hans första bok som dessutom behandlar svensk rätt, även om den delen är av ringa betydelse. En andra upplaga av ”Exercitationes” trycktes som bilaga till den andra upplagan av hans ”Synopsis” (1653), med separat paginering, och sedan arbetade han in texten helt till den tredje och kraftigt utökade upplagan av ”Synopsis” (1673). Johannes Loccenius (1598-1677), som föddes i Holstein, blev jur. dr. i Leiden 1625 och inkallad till Sverige av Gustav II Adolf till en professur i historia i Uppsala samma år. 1628 blev han professor Skytteanus, 1648 universitetsbibliotekarie, rikshistoriograf 1651 och 1667 assessor i antikvitetskollegiet. Som forskare i svensk rätt och som lärare introducerade Loccenius rättsvetenskapen i Sverige. Christopher Theodor D’Antivari (1690-1763) var romersk-tysk kejserlig minister-resident i Stockholm. Han gjorde stora donationer i Stockholm, bl. a till Klara kyrka (där han även är begravd) och adlades i Sverige samma år som han dog. Han hade ett stort biblotek, med historia och juridik. Hans bokstämpel är englit Carlander från 1740-talet.

Även Ostindiefararen Christopher Henrik Braad (1728-81) var en framstående litterär samlare med ett stort bibliotek i historia och antikviteterna.

Errata leaf bound in the first part. ”A very curious work, attributing the causes of many diseases to spirits and basing their cure on this theory. There is a great deal on insanity. The methods of treatment are partly chemical, partly magnetical, even such modern ideas as suggestion and other mental treatments are proposed.” (Duveen.) Sebastian Wirdig (1613-1687) from Torgau in Saxony, was a physician and professor in Rostock. His theories are based on the belief in two types of spirits. The spirits of the human body, which make up the soul and reside in the blood, and the spirits of the air (heat and cold) with whom the spirits of the body combine and thus cause illnesses. In addition, he also develops a theory of magnetism. Magnetic attraction exists not only between heavenly and worldly bodies, but also between all living things. These spirits and magnetism can be influenced in various ways, includning alchemical treatments and talismans.

The official news reference to the command and services modules of the Apollo spacecraft, published by the manufacturer North American Rockwell in cooperation with NASA’s Manned Spacecraft Center. This issue is revised in July 1969, that is, at the time of Apollo 11. The leaves are punched in the inner margin, since the volume was originally published as a loose-leaf system in a ring-binder, which could be updated as the project evolved. All original issues of this news reference are very rare, and as a consequence, a new edition was published in 2011. The first part describes the Apollo program in general and ends with a short section on ”Post-Apollo programs”, including a space station planned for the mid-1970s and early 1980s. The second part describes the command and service modules (the lunar module also gets a brief description), while the third part treats the subsystems, such as displays and controls, docking, launch escape, telecommunications and space suit. The fourth part is dedicated to support, with sections on checkout and final test, reliability and training and Apollo manufacturing. The fifth and final part contains, among other things, sections on the subcontractors for the command and service modules, a list of contracts with costs, biographical summaries (NASA heads, heads of contractors, astronauts etc), an Apollo chronology, a glossary and an index. The present copy was bought directly at the NASA press center by the Swedish photographer and Emmy-awarded tv-producer Carl O. Löfman (1938-2016), who covered the launch of Apollo 13 in April 1970.

Kiellbergs vapenbok innehöll ursprungligen endast grevar och friherrar. En ny och förbättrade upplaga utgavs sedan 1745 av Daniel Gustav Cedercrona samt ytterligare förbättrad 1746.De handskrivna kommentarena är skrivna på 1760-talet. Den sista handskrivet tillagda ätten är von Lantinghausen som får friherrlig status år 1760, men de flesta kommentaren rör släkthändelser år 1766 och 1767. Den graverade och handkolorerade planschen visar Christina Catharina de la Gardies släktträd, graverad av Joh. C. Stenholm 1704. Den är publicerad i likpredikan över henne, ”Et nytt lefwerne i Christo Jesu”, Strängnäs 1705. Sigillet tillhör Jakob Kinborg (1716-1800), adlad Gripenstråle 1772. Han blev slottsfogde i Stockholm 1763 och fick 1791 titeln av konungens fogat i Stockholm. Dock oklart om det är han som gjort anteckningarna i boken, de borde snarare kunna vara av någon av Christina Catharina de la Gardies ättlingar.
