For many years he had been a professor of Greek at Harvard University. His most important work was his Syntax of the Moods and Tenses of the Greek Verb (1860), of which the seventh revised edition appeared in 1877 and another (enlarged) in 1890. After chapters on equipment and preparation and the basic stitches, there are five patterns, described in detail and progressive in difficulty, More...which have been designed to demonstrate most of the techniques of flat Honiton lace. The more commonly used techniques are specially presented for easy reference and each pattern is followed by a discussion of the working methods employed. Two closing chapters deal with mounting and design. The instructions will give the beginner both a thorough grounding in this fascinating craft and the confidence to move on to more complicated techniques and designs. The author is a teacher and lecturer on many forms of bobbin lace and a number of other lace crafts. She is a member of national lacemakers' organizations both in England and abroad and has recently completed workshop tours in Germany and the USA.

Bladet var stort anlagt, bød i en årrække på righoldigt stof, men slog ikke an i landbefolkningen. 1910 fratrådte la C, og bladet gik ind 1917. Han begyndte yderligere forlagsvirksomhed hvor han 1906?18 udsendte tre samlinger Danske Gaarde, hver på fire svære bind. Der blev her givet en skildring af alle landets større og mellemstore landbrug, og Danske Gaarde er en værdifuld kilde til dansk landbrugs situation umiddelbart efter 1900.

De tre musketerer (fr.: Les trois Mousquetaires) udkom som føljeton i tidsskriftet Århundredet (fr.: Le Siècle) fra 14. marts til 14. juli 1844. Romanen bygger påmémoires de M. D'Artagnan af Gatien de Courtilz de Sandras, som blev udgivet fra 1700 til 1701. De tre titelpersoner i romanen hedder Athos, Porthos og Aramis. Athos beskrives som en mand, der elsker vin, og er meget følelsesladet. Porthos er den vilde, der i slåskampene altid gerne vil slås med to på én gang. Aramis er den fredsommelige, der tilhører Kirken og det åndelige liv. De tre har det kendte motto: ""En for alle og alle for en"". D'Artagnan bliver optaget i de tres forbund. Exlibris
