Being one of the Italian Marinist poets (after Giambattista Marino), this work [which literally means Aristostotle's Telescope] is one of the major studies and manifests of European baroque literature, examining literary tropes, elaborate rhetorics, symbols and emblemata.

De fleste af de fremragende foromslag ville være oplagt som plakater. ** Sættet er skabt af forfatteren Peter P. (for Preisler) Rohde (1902-78), der i 1938 meldte sig ind i Danmarks Kommunistiske Parti og til stadighed var en af kulturradikalismens markante stemmer og skribenter. Rohde har abonnereret på presseklip, der systematisk fortæller om reaktionerne på Kulturkampen, ikke mindst fra den højreorienterede del af pressen samt ikke mindst de gennemnazificerede tysksprogede aviser i Sønderjylland. Her lagde man ikke fingrene imellem, og man hører ekkoet af både Goebbels og den ulækre antisemit Julius Streicher. Kulturkampen var en farlig realitet. Tyskland lå så tæt på.

Foxing throughout. * The first American edition of H.C. Andersen's first official autobiography, following the first British (1847), all based on the German version published earlier the same year. The German and English editions preceded the Danish with almost a century; it was published in 1942. Andersen's autobiography was an important key to his almost explosive international success in the 1840s, closely linked to the publication of his fairy tales. Andersen eagerly followed his American publications but never visited the U.S., Though always fond of travelling, he could not overcome his fear of the Atlantic crossing.

He was known as one of the Fauves between 1900 - 1905, but was later known as a modern art painter with a flair for colours. Matisse was a close friend of Picasso, whom he's met at Gertrude Stein's Paris salon. In 1947 he published the art book 'Jazz', which was full of his, now famous, paper cut collages.

Koloniseringen af Nikobarerne blev hurtigt opgivet, men Bille hjembragte betydeligt videnskabeligt materiale. ** Account on the Danish circumnavigation of the globe 1845-47. The purpose of the voyage was to lead the transition of the Danish colonies in India to Britain and to gather scientific material. Bille´s account is illustrated with etnographic litographs and maps.
