Fore-edge with a stain. * Besides being the father of Pietistic Lutheranism, German theologist Spener [1635-1705] was also an expert on heraldry.

Velbevaret eksemplar af Munks meget sjældne debut, skrevet da han som 24-årig beklædte det ærefulde embede som »klokker« (højeste embedsmand) ved Regensen. Bogen af den dengang helt ukendte Munk kom aldrig i boghandelen, men forhandledes internt på kollegiet. Ifølge Munks bibliograf Ove Marcussen bidrog bogtrykkeren i vinteren 1939 til bogens sjældenhed ved at fyre op med restoplaget, ca. 20-30 eksemplarer.** Indholdet omfatter bl.a. lystspillet »S'mænd et Offer«, hvor Munk havde castet sig selv i rollen som stud. med. Kunow. Ligesom Revyen »Een Thranum gør ingen Sommer« er teksten stærkt præget af indforstået regensianerhumor.

Contemporary inscription to the flyleaf of volume I. Small repair to titlepage of first volume. Bookplates. * Lovely work on heraldry, that apparently took 20 years to make - or at least to finance, as the project changes publisher in the proces. The 50 plates are all present, but a couple of them have been reinforced with paper to the back, with no loss of text or heraldry.

Mounted in recent gilt wooden frame.(Grafik/Prints). * Swane 266. Fine impression of this great print, showing the heroic death of American general Richard Montgomery (1738-1775) during the siege of Quebec. Montgomery is the central figure in the picture, surrounded by soldiers in various uniforms, scouts and even an Indian volunteer. ** Richard Montgomery was born in Ireland. Initially he served the British forces in North America, but changed side and became second in command in the Montreal expedition during the War of Independence.*** John Trumbull´s (1756-1843) painting is a good example of his very narrative pictures from the War of Independence. He met the talented Danish engraver J.F. Clemens (1748-1831) in London while the latter considered pursuing an international career. The first impression was published in 1795, and Clemens was payed no less than 1050 Guineas for his work.**** Not able to ship framed prints.

Front inner hinge weak. * Inscribed, in Danish, by Ejnar Mikkelsen on front endpaper, in Paris, March 1926. ** French edition of Ejnar Mikkelsen's account of the Alabama Expedition 1910, named af the expedition ship, to the Northeastern parts of Greenland. After the shipwreck of the Alabama, Mikkelsen and a companion survived through two and a half year on Greenland's ice sheet before being rescued by Norwegian sealhunters.

6 bind. Gyldendal, København 1793-1807. 4to. Med kobberstukket portræt af Henrik Stampe (J.G. Preisler efter Jens Juel). Samtidige uniforme helbind af brunt kalveskind med rig rygforgyldning. Ryggene mørknede. Stempel på fribladet i bind 2 og 6. Øverste kapitæl på bind 1 beskadiget. Kapitælerne slidt på bind 6. * Godt sæt af dette hovedværk i dansk juridisk litteratur. Henrik Stampe (1713-89) står som en af det 18. århundredes betydeligste danske embedsmænd. I 1753 blev han udnævnt til såvel juridisk professor ved Københavns Universitet og til generalprokurør. I sidstnævnte egenskab kom han ind i enevoldsmagtens inderkreds og fik ansvaret for udarbejdelse af nye love og for afgivelsen af erklæringer til regeringen i komplicerede juridiske spørgsmål - det er dette arbejde, der er dokumenteret i værket. Han deltog livet ud i centraladministrationens væsentligste arbejde og var både med i Struensees reformer, i tribunalet mod Struensee og Brandt og til sidst medvider i sammensværgelsen mod Høegh-Guldberg - man må sno sig her i verden. Henrik Stampe sluttede sin karriere som statsminister. ** Preisler den Yngres kobberstik efter Jens Juels vennesæle portræt af Stampe er meget af sættets pris værd.
