Linnaeus was staying mostly with the the Anglo-Dutch banker George Clifford (1685-1760) at his estate at Hartekamp and the Hortus Cliffortianus was published at the expense of George Clifford and contains Linneaeus’ definitions and synonyms for the numerous species in Clifford’s botanical gardens.

Gösta Nobel was the youngest son of Ludvig and Edla Nobel. He took over as Branobel`s Managing Director at the time of the Russian Revolution, and had to flee Russia in 1918. Branobel or The Nobel Brothers Petroleum Company was founded by Robert and Ludvig Nobel in Baku in 1876.
