Ulricehamn, Ulricehamns Konst- o Östasiatiska Museum, 1999. 30x25. 216 pp. Ca 290 colour photos and 24 pattern drawings. Publisher's gilt-lettered cloth, dust jacket. Ulricehamn Museum of Art and Far Eastern Antiquities catalogue, with introduction by Rosemary E. Scott who, along with Bo Gyllensvärd, was responsible for the assessment of objects. The important Carl Kempe collection was sold to an anonymous buyer after the museum was dismantled and closed in 2008.

Lepzig & Berlin, Teubner, 1930. 27x19. XX+216 pp. + 78 plates with 120 reproductions and photos + 2 pp. book list. Printed wrappers, a fine copy of the scarce first edition. On first, blank page the pencil signature of Bengt Dahlbäck, the art historian and later superintendent of the Swedish National Museum of Art. (Studien der Bibliothek Warburg, 18).

Dresden, Küthmann, (1897-1901). 49x34. X+232 pp. + 100 heliogravure plates (94 with mostly full-page photographs and six with drawings). 132 drawings, plans and photos in the text. Loose as issued in a printed half cloth portfolio. Exterior lightly rubbed and dusty, plates very fine albeit ever so mildly darkened in outmost margins. A study and imposing photographic archive of Swedish architecture from 1530-1760 (originally issued in five parts) by the Swedish art and architecture historian Gustaf Upmark the elder. A Swedish-language edition was published posthumously in 1904.

Berlin, Wasmuth, 1908-11. 32x22. XVI+220; + VIII+240; + VIII+240 pp. + 26 pp. index. 762 photos, drawings and plans. Publisher's decorated, gilt-lettered quarter cloth. A very good set with very light external wear. Second, revised edition of the first real history - in any language - of English domestic architecture in the latter half of the 19th century (first published 1904-5). Muthesius was stationed as an architect at the German embassy in London from 1896 to 1903 to study English housing and architecture. He returned full of enthusiasm for the current movement and praised architects such as Norman Shaw, Webb, Baillie Scott, Voysey and Mackintosh at a time that many in Britain did not. The influence of this lavishly illustrated three-volume work can hardly be exaggerated. Muthesius himself sought to promote the qualities of English design in his own work and as a founder of the German Werkbund.

Leipzig 1912-13, 1908. 27x19. VIII + 114 + 38 (notes and indices); + VIII+ 208; + VIII + 436 + 60 (notes and indices) pp. + 142 photogravure plates + 6 tipped-in plates. Altogether 620 photos, plans and drawings on plates and in the text. Publisher's uniform cloth, minor stains onto edges and slight cracking at inner hinges of volume 3. A complete set, comprising: 1-2. Palast und Villa in Toscana, 3. Die Villa Imperiale in Pesare.

Moskva 1947. 34x26. 248 pp. + one folding plate + one supplement leaf inserted between pages 70 and 71, with illustrations numbered 76a and 76b. 357 drawings, plans, renderings and photos. Publisher's gilt-lettered cloth. A good copy in lightly dulled covers, spine head and tail and corner tips lightly rubbed. Substantial Russian work on theatre architecture, the first half covering history and development with illustrations of buildings by Quarengi, Thomon, Rossi, and others; the second half dealing with modern theatre design in the Soviet Union with illustrations from the work of Barkhin, Vesnin, Golosov, Fomin, Shchusev, Tamanyan, Burov, etc. Not in Senkevitch.

Paris, Gagosian, 2017. 32x27. 41 colour reproductions (including 19 full-page and eight double-page). plus six full-page portrait/studio photos including three in colour. Publisher's printed boards with pictorial jacket; as new. Published in conjunction with an exhibition held at the Gagosian Gallery; includes catalogue of the paintings.

Stockholm 1889. 24x18. 12 s. + 10 planscher, vardera med en villa illustrerad med perspektivritning och två planritningar. Tryckta blågröna omslag. Ett mycket fint exemplar av denna sällsynta publikation, med försumbara yttre åldersspår. En karta över den planerade villastaden bifogades ursprungligen prospektet men saknas här. Henrik Palme hade medverkat vid exploateringen av Villastaden norr om Humlegården i Stockholm, och 1883 köpte han egendomen Svalnäs norr om Djursholms slott. När ägaren till Djursholmsgodset avled 1886 tog Palme initiativ till Djursholmsbolaget, som köpte den stora egendomen av dödsboet för att förverkliga idén om en utpräglad villastad efter utländsk modell. I erbjudandet till spekulanterna ingick att bolaget också kunde stå för att uppföra villorna, och i prospektet presenteras tio typhus som marknadsfördes som färdigbyggda villor, med priser inklusive tomt mellan 13 000 kr och 16 000 kr.

Paris. Massin, (1922-23). 45x33. 12; + 12 pp. + 80 plates with ca 150 reproductions, the majority printed in sepia. Loose as issued in two printed cloth-backed portfolios with tie-strings and front plates. A fine set though backstrips of portfolios are slightly worn. A collection of attractive reproductions of Italian and French architectural drawings in the Louvre Museum collections.

Paris 1948. 35x26. 72 pp. including 24 full-page colour reproductions of paintings, 40 pages with reproductions of ink drawings, and a colour title page designed by Matisse. Jacket designed by Matisse over boards. The jacket slightly worn at extremities with minor paper loss at bottom of backstrip. Bookplate of the Swedish editor, book art historian and critic Georg Svensson. (Verve, vol. VI: no. 21-22).

Publisher's printed boards with dust jackets; kept in a pictorial slipcase. The books in excellent condition; one edge of the slipcase cracking.

X+502 pp. + 93 plates (12 of which are coloured) with 285 photographs of Japanese lacquer and enamel ware, netsuke, ivories, tsuba and other metal work, ceramics, wood sculptures, fabrics, screens, kakemono, paintings, etc. Publisher's half leather, lightly worn. No. 111 of an edition limited to 200 copies. A very good copy of the scarce, illustrated and extensively commented catalogue of the author's collection of Japanese art objects, collected during his stay in Japan in the early 20th century.

London, Groombridge and Sons, (1846-48). 21x14. II+278+96 pp. + 12 coloured plates with guard-leaves + coloured frontispiece. Publisher's green cloth with debossed and gilt decorations, edges gilt. Some uneven fading of the green cloth, otherwise a very nice copy.

Liège, Charles Claesen, 1866. 40x29. Engraved title leaf + 210 numbered leaves including nine text leaves, 200 leaves with facsimiles of Dietterlin's engravings, and a final leaf with impressum. Loose as issued in a printed cloth-backed portfolio with four pairs of tie-strings (the bottom pair missing), boards darkened and rubbed. From Johnny Roosval's library, with a stamp and his inscription "Johnny Roosval. Muramaris" inside front cover. An 19th-century facsimile of the famous work that appeared in three editions 1593-5, 1598 and 1655, which all eventually became excessively rare, "quite likely because they were so widely used, for they did not get into libraries, but into the workshops of architects and decorators, where they were copied and recopied, worn out and in the end discarded" (Adolf K. Placzek). The plates are organised around the five orders of architecture, but for Dietterlin they are mainly a take-off point for his imaginative fantasy creations including heavily decorated windows, chimneys, door frames, portals, fountains, tombs and monuments.
