Paris (1925). 24x16. 122 pp. Drawings and plans and ca 70 photos. Neat half cloth, pictorial wrappers (with light signs of wear) preserved. A publication devoted to the New Spirit in Architecture, including the discource L'Esprit Nouveau en Architecture delivered at Sorbonne in 1924, and describing Le Corbusier's Pavillon L'Esprit Nouveau at the Paris Exhibition 1925 (the title design of which is reproduced on the book's front wrapper). Le Corbusier's survey of other recent works by him includes the studio building he designed for Ozenfant, The La Roche / Albert Jeanneret twin house in Auteuil, and other villas.

Berlin, Wasmuth, 1903. 48x32. 6 pp. + 100 heliogravure plates with ca 330 photographs. Loose as issued in a printed half cloth portfolio with tie-strings. Very light foxing to a few plates, two plates with damp stain in margin, otherwise very fine. Scarce large-format album of photographs of Romanesque, transitional and Gothic pillar capitals and other ornamental building details, mainly from German churches and abbeys.

Stockholm, Ivar Hæggströms, 1896. 27x18. XLII+182 pp. text + 48 planscher. Vackert samtida rött halvskinnband (G. Hedberg) med övre guldsnitt, marmorerade pärmar och för-/eftersättsblad, ryggen rikt förgylld med blomstermotiv. Tryckt i 125 exemplar varav detta är nr 75.

Paris 1862. 62x48. 16 pp. + 40 lithographed plates including 15 richly coloured chromolithographs and four monocolour. Publisher's printed cloth-backed boards, exterior darkened and slightly rubbed, neatly rebacked. Some text leaf margins neatly strengthed, mild foxing to some plates and text leaves as usual. A pioneering documentation of Swedish mediaeval church paintings, lithographed after reproductions made on location by Mandelgren. In 1846 he had been granted appropriations to explore and document the art of Swedish mediaeval churches, with emphasis on the interior paintings. Following a conflict with the Director-General of the National Heritage Board however, the material was not published in Sweden. Mandelgren made all the lithographs himself, and the work appeared in parts in Copenhagen and Paris between 1855 and 1862, before the final result was published in Paris with a dedication the Emperor Napoleon III. On two of the plates there are elevations, sections, plans and detail drawings of churches, the others show wall and ceiling paintings and decorations.

Stockholm, C. Wilh. Backe, 1908. 29x21. 64 s. inklusive 11 färgplanscher + 20 s. med relevanta annonser. Kort inledning, och 13 planer, 21 fasad- och perspektivritningar (11 kolorerade) samt 32 foton av uppförda hus och andra vyer från Lidingö. Bunden med ytttre synlig snodd i tryckta omslag med illustration i brunt och ljusblått. Tryckt lapp med två rättelser fäst på främre omslagets insida. Välbevarat ex. förvarat i en något nött, mer eller mindre samtida box med klotrygg. 1907 utlystes en arkitekttävling för utformandet av hus i den nya trädgårdsstaden på Lidingö. Gate och Landén tilldelades första respektive andra pris. I denna publikation presenteras ritningar till nio villor, varav sju återfinns bland fotografierna av uppförda hus. Bland färgplanscherna finns ett förslag (Sveriges första i sitt slag?) till modernt radhus avsett för de bättre bemedlade (av Landén, inte uppfört, men idén förverkligades på Lidingö 1909-10 enligt ritningar av Gate).

Fine contemporary half red leather binding, spine with five gilt raised bands, top edge gilt. Bound with printed front wrapper but without the two blank leaves (first leaf and a leaf separating the reproductions from the final index). (L'Art Français. Collection dirigée par Georges Wildenstein). An attractively bound copy of this handsomely produced monograph on the French Rococo painter Jean-Baptiste Pater (1695-1736) including a classified Catalogue Raisonné of his works, bibliography, and an index of works, collections, auctions, etc.

Wien, Schroll, (1912). 36x29. 72 pp. text + 68 photogravure plates with ca 210 photographs including 10 coloured. 65 photos in the text. Textbook with printed wrappers kept with loose plates as issued in a cloth-backed portfolio with tie-strings (portfolio slightly rubbed, contents fine). Sumptuous study and photographic documentation of the patterns and techniques of peasant art in Dalmatia as manifested in lacework, knitwork, carpet weaving, costume, jewellery, tableware, etc. Dalmatia, today a region of Croatia, was a kingdom subordinate to the Austrian / Austro-Hungarian emperors between 1815 and the First World War.

Index of the designers, which include Aalto, Albini, Bega, Bertoia, Morassutti, Parisi, Ponti, Zanuso, Robin Day, Ernest Race, Tapiovaara, Wegner, Jacobsen, Ditzel, Juhl, Kjærholm, Ekselius, Strinning, Eames, Bertoia, George Nelson etc.

Leipzig 1901-03. 26x18. XIV+330; + IV+331-690 pp. + 149 plates (two folding including one with 16 colour designs). 1507 drawings and plans illustrating Gothic construction as well as decorative elements and designs. Contemporary half leather with marbled boards and edges, a fine set with slightly faded spines and minor wear at extremities. Fourth edition, revised by Karl Mohrman. The techniques of Gothic construction revealed by the architect and master builder Georg G. Ungewitter (1820-1864), a German pioneer of Gothic Revival architecture. Relatively few of Ungewitter's designs were actually built, and from 1852 his main priority lay as a writer and a teacher of architecture at the Höheren Gewerbeschule in Kassel, exerting influence particularly on church architecture in the final decades of the nineteenth century and the early decades of the twentieth.

More than 900 photos including front / reverse photos etc. Publisher's half cloth with Japanese title on spine, an excellent copy kept in the original slipcase with Japanese title. No. 48 of an edition limited to 1000 numbered copies. A comprehensive descriptive and fully illustrated catalogue of tsubas and other Japanese sword fittings, bilingual in Japanese and English throughout.

Stockholm, Norstedt, (1901). 34x48. Titelblad + textblad med planschförteckning + 40 planscher tryckta i ockrarött, och blekt ljusrött och ljusgrönt. Lösa som de utgavs i en marmorerad mapp med klotrygg och klotfalsar, tryckt titeletikett på främre pärmen. Första planschen något mörknad i översta marginalen, antydan till brytveck på främre pärmen, i övrigt i utmärkt fint skick. Trettioåtta planscher med dekorativa skalritningar till 115 möbler av skilda slag (de flesta en face och i profil) samt två planscher med ritningar till möbelbeslag. Viktor Adler var anställd vid Victor von Gegerfelts kontor i Göteborg åren 1868-73 och utövade sedermera arkitektyrket både privat och i överintendentsämbetet. Efter att 1886 ha tillträtt tjänsten som rektor för Tekniska Skolan i Stockholm var han verksam som konstindustriell lärare, och deltog i organiserandet av den stora Konst- och Industrutställningen i Stockholm 1897 såväl som i Sveriges deltagande i världsutställningarna i början av 1900-talet.

Publisher's pictorial cloth, in embossed pictorial gold-coloured dust jacket. Very light scuffing of corner tips. First English-language edition of the Surrealist artist's illustrated cookbook comprising 56 courses including recipes prepared by French top chefs.

Paris & Bruxelles, Van Oest, 1929. 35x26. XIV+176 pp. + 106 plates with 191 photogravures and two tipped-in tissue guarded colour reproductions. Full green morocco with gilt ornamental decoration on front cover, spine (lightly faded) with five raised bands. A beautifully produced study and documentation of the various aspects and forms of Islamic miniatures, decoration and calligraphy in Persian manuscripts and books between the 12th and 17th centuries.

Dresden, Keller, 1912. 2 leaves (title and list of plates) + 50 plates (48x35) with ca 100 elevations and 100 plans and sections; + 34 pp. textbook (28x22) with 31 photos and designs, in printed wrappers. Plates loose as issued, together with the textbook in a pictorial cloth-backed portfolio. Excellent copy, still in original (slightly repaired) printed cardboard slipcase. Small-home designs published by the Saxonian Heimatschutz, for town houses ranging from single-family houses to buildings designed to house several families, including terraced-house rows and other forms of garden suburb type workers' housing.

Milano (1951). 33x24. 48 pp. text (with one tipped-in plate) + 148 pp. with ca 360 photos. Publisher's printed quarter cloth, covers lightly rubbed. A historical study and survey of Venetian frames with photos of examples from the 14th-18th centuries.

S.-Peterburg, Strakuna, (1913). 31x22. 16 pp. + 32 plates with 15 elaborate elevations and 9 drawings of windows, oriels etc. (printed in black, red and blue-green), 4 plans, and 13 photographs. Publisher's pictorial cardboard covers, neatly rebacked with cloth spine. Covers and first/last leaves slightly darkened, and some not very obtrusive traces of damp. "2-e izdanie" (2nd edition). A rare publication containing designs by Vladimir Stori for large urban houses as well as a photographic survey of executed town buildings.
