Contemporary full brown calf bindings with richly gilt spines. Spines rubbed. Part of the title-label of volume 2 crackled. Upper spine-end of volume 1 repaired. Old name and ink stamp (Aalborg Skole) on titlepage in each volume. Name (Andreas Borrichius = Anders Borch) at bottom on the engraved titlepage in both volumes. Inscription in his handwriting on verso of front endpaper in vol. 1.

* From the library of the Danish diplomat Just Høg (1646-94) who served as vice-governor of Norway from 1682 to his death. His library was auctioned in Copenhagen i 1695. He purchased the set while serving in the Hague, on October 12th 1671. ** First edition of Tollius' translation of Appian's Roman History, displayed in parallel columns with the original Greek text and the Latin translation, with marginal annotations by Henricus Stephanus/Henri Estienne (first published 1592).
