Vol. I-2, 5-14 (bound in 6 volumes). Collection of British Authors. Leipzig 1851-52. (Bernh. Tauchnitz Jun.). Small 8vo. Printed in double columns. s. Publ. green cloth with gilt decor. on spine. Minor tears and soiling on bindings, otherwise good. Name in old hand in all volumes (Oda Motzfeldt). *Houshold Words was an English weekly magazine edited by Charles Dickens, published every Saturday from March 1850 to May 1859. Articles were unsigned, and only the name of the editor appeared (Wikipedia). This edition is not the first. The german publisher Bernhard Tauchnitz in Leipzig, rearranged the contents and serial stories were usually presented as single stories. Tauchnitz published 36 volumes of fiction from Household Words between 1851 and 1856 and these were reprinted many times. Copies can often only be dated by the style of bindings (www.tauchnitzeditions.com). These volumes are thus not nescessarily from 1851-52, but the bindings seem to be not much younger. Hence these are probably early editions. Engelsk.
