Flensburg, David Korte, 1736. 4to. In a bit later half calf binding with four raised bands with gilt lettering and blind stamped ornamentation to spine. A note in contemporary hand stating the present copy was given by the author to a certain Tychonius. Ex-libris (Jac. Chr. Lindberg) pasted on to verso of title-page. Wear to extremities, internally with light occassional marginal browning but generally nice and clean. (22), 746, (20) pp. Presentation-copy of the first edition of the Terpager's second historiographical and topographical description of Ribe - one of Denmark’s oldest towns, located in southern Jutland (Cimbria). It draws extensively on antique sources inscriptions, official charters and monuments. The present copy was given by Terpager to a certain Tychonis whom we have not been able to identify. The present copy have belonged to Jacob Christian Lindberg (1797–1857) - Danish priest, theologian, and politician born in Ribe as the son of the cathedral chaplain. Educated at Ribe Cathedral School and later the University of Copenhagen, he combined theological training with studies in numismatics and epigraphy. Closely allied with Grundtvig he became a sharp polemicist in the church struggles of the 1820–30s. He later translated the Bible into Danish (1837–53). Biblioteca Danica II:706.
