Cocktailhistorie er kulturhistorie og verdenshistorie, og bogen kommer vidt omkring: fra Caribiens sukkerrør og slaveri over Singapores luksushotel Raffles til Frankrig, hvor en gal (eller genial?) læge transplanterede abetestikler til rigmænd med drømme om evigt liv. I 2016 og 2017 præsenterede P1 Eftermiddag Cocktailtimen. De populære cocktailhistorier bliver nu samlet i en skøn bog. 52 cocktails i alt – det er én om ugen i et helt år, hvis man vil prøve dem alle sammen.
