Paris, Morancé, (1920). 44x32. 20 pp. + 80 heliogravure plates with ca 180 photographs. Loose as issued in a cloth-backed portfolio with tie-strings. (Le Style Empire). A comprehensive photographic documentation of the Hôtel Beauharnais in Paris and its interiors including decorated ceilings, doors, Empire-style furniture, clocks, candelabrae, etc. The building was erected in the early 18th century to the design of Germain Boffrand who sold it to the marquis de Torcy; among the subsequent owners was Eugene de Beauharnais, son of the First Consul for Napoleon Bonaparte. At the proclamation of the German Empire in 1871, the Hôtel Beauharnais became the embassy of the new state, and continued to be the German Embassy till the end of the Second World War, when it was confiscated by the French state.

A documentation of three new 'International Style' school buildings, published by Städtische Hochbauamt Frankfurt am Main. 1. Die Schule in der Römerstadt (designed by Martin Elsaesser and W. Schütte; 2. Die Ludwig Richter-Schule (designedby Martin Elsaesser); 3. Die Schule in Niederursel (designed by Franz Schuster). Introduction by Martin Elsaesser.

Berlin, Wasmuth, (1902). 43x31. II+4 pp. + 25 plates with ca 15 perspectives (4 full-page), 25 elevations and sections and 30 plans. Contemporary limp cloth. (Kunst und Architektur im Dienste der Feuerbestattung, herausgegeben vom Feuerbestattungsvereine deutscher Sprache, 3). Contributions to a competition for the design of a crematorium in Bremen, by Karl Winter (awarded first prize), Fritz Schumacher and others. The two last plates are the architect Josef Hassinger's designs for a crematorium built in Mainz.

Berlin 1920. 25x23. 160 pp. + 40 pp. relevant advertisements. Ca 100 photos including 60 full-page. Publisher's printed boards, cloth rebacked, very light exterior discolouration. (Jahrbuch des Deutschen Werkbundes, 6). A German Werkbund survey of glass, ceramic and metal ware, fabrics, needlework, etc. including contemporary works by Bernhard Pankok, Max Pechstein, Josef Wackerle, Fritz Helmuth Ehmcke, Karl Gross, Theodor A. Winde, and others.

Milano 1958. 20x21. 72 pp. Ca 50 photos of furniture and other objects designed by Ponti. Publisher's printed black boards, backstrip slightly sunned, otherwise a fine copy kept in the original black cardboard slipcase. Layout by Lora Lamm. On inside of front board the bookplate of Arthur Hald, director 1959-65 of the Swedish Society of Industrial Design (Svenska Slöjdföreningen), and the society's stamp in top right corner of title page. (Premio la Rinascente compasso d'oro). Scarce monograph "conceived and created by la Rinascente in order to underline the importance of the work of Gio Ponti for the improvement of the aesthetic level of artisanal and industrial production". In 1954, Gio Ponti and Alberto Rosselli had teamed up with the Italian company La Rinascente to set up the important Compasso d'Oro design award. Bilingual text and captions in Italian and English including Cronaca / Biographical Notes; Carattere di Ponti / Ponti, a summing up; and an essay by Mario Labó: Nota per Ponti / Some considerations on Ponti.

Stockholm 1950-65. 27x21. From ca 40 pages in the first issues to ca 130 pages in the last ones, making an average of 86 pages per issue. A total of almost nine hundred photos and designs, ca 110 in colour (besides relevant advertisements). Designed wrappers, an excellent set. A complete set of the Design Annual published between 1950 and 1965 by the Swedish Industrial Arts Association (Svenska Slöjdföreningen), containing illustrated articles on - mainly Swedish - contemporary decorative art, industrial design and architecture. Although the English subtitle was added in 1961 (no.10) the text is entirely in English from no.3 and on (except no.6 which has bilingual Swedish/German text), and nos. 1-2 have captions in English.

Darmstadt (1957). 28x24. IV pp. + 284 pp. More than 200 photos of models, plans, designs, etc. including several full-page. Publisher's printed cloth, a fine copy. A documentation of the competition schemes for Berlin's most famous postwar housing development, also published as four parts in wrappers. The planning of the Hansa district was the subject of an international competition for which a variety of dwellings were designed by 53 architects throughout the world, including Walter Gropius, Max Taut, van den Broek & Bakema, Le Corbusier, Luciano Baldessari, Pierre Vago, Oscar Niemeyer, F.R.S. Yorke, Alvar Aalto, Kay Fisker, Arne Jacobsen, and others.

London, Petersburg Press, 1969. 15x23. 20 pages on one accordion-folded glossy paper sheet. Enclosed leaf announcing the publication in October 1969 of the portfolio "available for a limited period at a price of US$ 2,500", with addition in ink "Dealer price $ 1,500". A very good copy with a minimum of external darkening. Scarce publisher's preview of the portfolio also presented in the more common "Work From the Same House" published by Trigram Press the same year. Full reproduction of the portfolio which contained sixteen images of combined photographs by Friedlander and etchings by Dine with the artists' handwritten introduction.
