Ca 150 photos and 140 drawings and plans, 44 full-page. Publisher's cloth with gilt design and lettering. Covers stained and a little rubbed at extremities, binding slightly shaken, minor cracking of front inner hinge. This was the first major documentation of works by Behrens to appear since the publishing of Fritz Hoeber's monograph in 1913.

Paris, Floury, 1925. 24x18. VIII+84 pp. + 8 photogravure plates with photos of 24 glass pieces. 44 drawings in the text, 12 coloured by hand or pochoir including nine full-page. Pictorial wrappers over first and last blank leaves as issued, exterior slightly darkened and backstrip ever so lightly worn; inscribed by the author. A very good presentation copy of this beautifully produced monograph on the artist and glass designer Maurice Marinot.

Moskva 1952. 29x22. 388 pp. + tipped-in portrait plate + 3 leaves, each with one tissue-guarded tipped-in colour plate. Ca 400 reproductions of architectural drawings and photos, and 30 plans. Publisher's gilt-lettered cloth. (Mastera Sovetskoi arkhitektury). Senkevitch 1086. Classic monograph on the Russian and Soviet architect Aleksej V. Shchusev (1873-1949) including chronological list of projects and a bibliography of writings by and on Shchusev.

Helsingfors, Schildt, 1922. 22x14. 52 pp. Six illustrations. A fine copy in the original printed wrappers with a composition by the author. First edition of 'The Divine Geometry', the first extensive manifesto of Swedish modernist art, written by the avant-garde painter who had been exhibiting at Der Sturm and contributed to Bruno Taut's Glass House (for which he was engaged as 'künstlerischer Erklärer' at the 1914 Werkbund exhibition). The book was printed in Helsinki by the Schildt publishing house, to be published simultaneously in Sweden and Finland (although the Swedish edition was not published by the Bonnier publishing house, who usually cooperated with Schildt but refused to handle the book).

A pioneering modern monograph on Carlo Saraceni (1579 -1620) that established his reputation as a "first-class painter of the second rank". Includes Catalogue Raisonné of his oeuvre (including lost or not located works) and bibliography

A nice copy despite some signs of use including incipient cracking of inner hinges. Extensively illustrated survey of modern French decorative art including furniture and lamps designed by Edgar Brandt, Dufrène, Follot, René Herbst, Ruhlmann, Joubert, Majorelle, Süe et Mare, Gallerey and others as well as fabrics, wallpaper, ceramic, glass and metal ware, etc.

(Riga, Häcker, 1905) but later, undated photo facsimile . 20x13. II+75 pp. printed on 78 leaves, thus intermittent blank pages. Numerous reproductions of marks and monograms. Neatly bound in maroon cloth (Rybrandts Bokbinderi, Stockholm).

Kyoto-shi, Shobo, 1991. 37x26. 212 pp. Ca 230 colour photos including 175 full-page, and 100 photos of signatures. Publisher's cloth, dust jacket, in a heavy pictorial slipcase, protected in the original printed cardboard case; an excellent copy.

Christiania, udgiverens forlag, (1877-79). 25x34. 8 pp. including trilingual lists of plates + 24 engraved plates with guard-leaves. Publisher's gilt-lettered grey cloth with decorations in black and gold, edges gilt. An extraordinarily well-preserved copy in rarely seen printed dust jacket (with some chipping and repairs) and original printed cloth-edged slipcase. A handsome album of engraved pictures after works by Adolph Tidemand, the protagonist of Norwegian National Romantic art in the mid-19th century. Among the titles are: Sunday night in a cabin in Hardanger; The woman winding worsted; Fishing by torch-light; Decorating the bride; A wedding procession in Hardanger; Fight at a country wedding; Return of the bearhunters; A funeral on the Fjord; Christmas custom; etc.

Paris / printed in Amsterdam 1949. 16x12. Two pages with text by Dotremont (Par la Grand Porte) + nine leaves, each with one full-page reproduction. Printed wrappers. No 94 of an unspecified number of copies. Published in conjunction with a presentation of the three Dutch Cobra artists on 3 May, 1949 at Galerie Collette Allendy in Paris. The trio was among the founders of the Reflex / Groupe Expérimental Hollandais which joined forces with Danish and Belgian artists in November, 1948 to form the international CoBrA group, which held its first exhibition 13-27 March, 1949 in Bruxelles.

Paris, Massin, (ca 1922). 45x33. 24 pp. + 44 photogravure plates. Loose as isued in a half cloth portfolio with printed front label and tie-strings. Grand private gardens designed by contemporary French garden architects, illustrated each with one plan and with a total of ca 60 photographs. Introductory text by René-Edouard André providing a précis of the history of garden design followed by an outline of the principles of landscape gardening. The gardens include some designed by André himself as well examples from the work of Jacques Gréber, Jules Vacherot, Jules Allemand, and Albert Tournaire.

Boston 1923. 31x24. XX+320 pp. 181 photographs and plans. Publisher's gilt-lettered red cloth with gilt emblem. A fine copy with negligible external wear and a very weak, unobtrusive stain in lower margin of one text fold. A collection of photographs, and a few plans, of old colonial houses (and building details) on the Bermudas, with an introduction.

Basel 1935. 21x15. 114 pp. + 10 pp. relevant advertisements. Numerous examples of advertisements, letterheads, magazine covers, etc. printed on various kinds of paper, partly in red, blue, green. Publisher's blue cloth, original printed paper label on spine with title printed in black and author's name in red (sunning has extinguished the latter). A nice copy with a couple of unobtrusive stains on rear cover, and former owner's stamp on front free endpaper. First edition of Tschichold's widely read and highly influential treatise on the principles, practice and aesthetics of typographic design, including a concise overview of rules, colours, paper, posters, the use of abstract art, photography and drawings, etc. Although Tschichold continues to elaborate on the principles he had advocated in the more propagandist 'Die neue Typographie', the new work is much less dogmatic on the virtues of sans-serifs and asymmetrical design, and the text is set in Bodoni.

London 1994. 21x14. 192 pp. Ca 60 photos and renderings (15 in colour; 32 full- or double-page) and more than 50 plans, drawings and sketches. Publisher's printed cloth, dust jacket. Scarce. The architect's own commented survey of eleven projects (pp. 59-183), and essays on his design philosophy and practice; complete list of projects 1981-1994.
