This was the first major documentation of works by Behrens to appear since the publishing of Fritz Hoeber's monograph in 1913.

First edition of 'The Divine Geometry', the first extensive manifesto of Swedish modernist art, written by the avant-garde painter who had been exhibiting at Der Sturm and contributed to Bruno Taut's Glass House (for which he was engaged as 'künstlerischer Erklärer' at the 1914 Werkbund exhibition). The book was printed in Helsinki by the Schildt publishing house, to be published simultaneously in Sweden and Finland (although the Swedish edition was not published by the Bonnier publishing house, who usually cooperated with Schildt but refused to handle the book).

No 94 of an unspecified number of copies. Published in conjunction with a presentation of the three Dutch Cobra artists on 3 May, 1949 at Galerie Collette Allendy in Paris. The trio was among the founders of the Reflex / Groupe Expérimental Hollandais which joined forces with Danish and Belgian artists in November, 1948 to form the international CoBrA group, which held its first exhibition 13-27 March, 1949 in Bruxelles.

Morris'; 'The Morris Shop' by Edgar Kaufmann, Jr from an article in 'Art News'; and a text by Elizabeth Mock from an article in the 'Architectural Forum'). Original wrappers with title in red and a stylized design in gold based upon the updated Romanesque arch and glass tunnel atrium of the shop entrance. Elaborate plan on inside of front wrapper. On rear wrapper a brief text by the architect, with the characteristic red square. Sweeney 799. A rare, elegant presentation of the V.C. Morris gift shop designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1948, the only building in San Fransisco designed by him. The project was used by Wright as prototype realization of the circular/spiral concept applied when designing the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

Publisher's blue cloth, original printed paper label on spine with title printed in black and author's name in red (sunning has extinguished the latter). A nice copy with a couple of unobtrusive stains on rear cover, and former owner's stamp on front free endpaper. First edition of Tschichold's widely read and highly influential treatise on the principles, practice and aesthetics of typographic design, including a concise overview of rules, colours, paper, posters, the use of abstract art, photography and drawings, etc. Although Tschichold continues to elaborate on the principles he had advocated in the more propagandist 'Die neue Typographie', the new work is much less dogmatic on the virtues of sans-serifs and asymmetrical design, and the text is set in Bodoni.

Gift inscription on half-title page; light unobtrusive foxing to endpapers and opposite pages; otherwise fine. No. 933 of an edition limited to 3000 copies. Massive official large-format documentation of the Universal exhibition held in Brussels in 1935. The Belgian architect Joseph van Neck was the principal architect of the fair and of the Art Deco Palais des Expositions, Victor Bourgeois, designed the Grand Palace, the Leopold II Restaurant and the Soprocol Pavilion; among the foreign contributors were Le Corbusier who designed part of the French exhibit.
