A very good copy of the scarce, illustrated and extensively commented catalogue of the author's collection of Japanese art objects, collected during his stay in Japan in the early 20th century.

Splendid documentation of the "Orient Stars" Collection of Oriental carpets compiled by the Stuttgart couple, Waltraud and Heinrich Kirchheim, with authorative texts by a number of authors.

Jacket designed by Matisse over boards. The jacket slightly worn at extremities with minor paper loss at bottom of backstrip. Faint shadow of removed price-tag in bottom corner of rear cover, otherwise a very good copy. An intense, and eventually melancholy, love story told by Niki de Saint Phalle with her idiosyncratic and occasionally "psychedelic" drawings.

A survey of modern Italian architecture published in conjunction with the sixth Triennalo in Milano. Excellent documentation of the protagonists of Italian Modernist and Rationalist architecture including Ponti, Albini, Nervi, Terragni, Baldessari, Pagano, Michelucci, Magistretti, Gardella, Moretti, Sartoris, Figini & Gino Pollini, Mucchi, Vaccero, Adalberto Libera, Piero Bottoni, Piero Portaluppi, Vito Latis, Ettore Sottsass Sr, etc.

Signed by Erni, with a small ink drawing by him, on front free endpaper. A selection of works by Hans Erni, approved by the artist himself, with texts by Herbert Read, Konrad Farner, René Thiessing, Paul Scherrer, Andreas Speiser, and Ernst Bösiger, and index of the reproduced works.

Publisher's black cloth with gilt title design on front cover, and endpapers with gilt ornamental designs. An attractive copy handsomely rebacked with black leather spine; very light trace of damp in upper margin corner of the frontispiece, binding slightly weakened. Major monograph on the co-founder of the Munich Secession, published thirteen years before he was ennobled Franz Ritter von Stuck.

Exterior very lightly worn, contents excellent, a very good copy. First edition of this publication credited as being one of the first important books acknowledging African art in Europe, as well as an influence on the modern Cubist art promoted by Carl Einstein.

The standard monograph on the first French disciple of Mondrian, including illustrated Catalogue Raisonné of paintings, reliefs, constructions, and architectural drawings. A fine set in two contemporary quarter black leather volumes, gilt spines with four raised bands, top edges gilt and the other edges untrimmed; marbled endpapers; printed wrappers preserved. No. 953 of an edition limited to 1010 copies.

New York, Seth Siegelaub, 1968. 20x20. 20 pp. including 15 pages with illustrations of the projects. Pictorial wrappers, lightly edgeworn. An artist book published in conjunction with a legendary conceptual art exhibition at which the contents of the book itself was the exhibit. The projects presented in the book include the exchange of postal receipts across fourteen locations along the 42º parallel of the United States; extensive site sculpture projects for New York City, Portland, and Schenecteday-Albany; "Duration Pieces" #1, #2 and #4 (including a suite of photographs taken at 2 minute intervals); a scheme for a "snow melting sculpture", etc.

Wien: Graeser / Leipzig: Teubner, 1909. 22x14. VIII+216 pp. + 4 photo plates including frontispiece. 114 plans, drawings and photos in the text. Publisher's gilt-lettered decorated bluegrey cloth, very light wear to head and foot of spine and extreme cover tips. Two names on front free endpaper: one dated -09, and Göran Sidenbladh's dated -43. Some pencil markings and margin notes by Sidenbladh. The fourth, revised, extended and definitive edition of Sitte's famous work on town building. This is the copy Göran Sidenbladh used when he made the Swedish translation, which was published with his commentaries in 1982. As Director of City Planning for Stockholm from 1953 through the 60s and early 70s, Sidenbladh was instrumental in the obliteration of the old city centre district (Nedre Norrmalm) and the planning of the suburbs Skärholmen, Spånga, Rinkeby, Tensta, etc.

Dresden, Küthmann, (1897-1901). 49x34. X+232 pp. + 100 heliogravure plates (94 with mostly full-page photographs and six with drawings). 132 drawings, plans and photos in the text. Loose as issued in a printed half cloth portfolio. Exterior lightly rubbed and dusty, plates very fine albeit ever so mildly darkened in outmost margins. A study and imposing photographic archive of Swedish architecture from 1530-1760 (originally issued in five parts) by the Swedish art and architecture historian Gustaf Upmark the elder. A Swedish-language edition was published posthumously in 1904.
