London (1905 ). 40x27. XII+(52); + VIII+(36) pp. + 237 plates with 294 photos. Publisher's decorated, gilt-lettered cloth, top edges gilt. These volumes are a mine of lovely things. Indeed, it would be difficult to better the photographs, and the letterpress is interesting and readable. Those who have spent pleasant hours in the gardens of Tivoli or Frascati will enjoy recalling by means of this work the time passed in those places of ordered beauty. (from the review in The Spectator, 8 December, 1906).
