Gravyr från praktverket Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna. Stockholm 1698. 26,5 × 17 cm. (Bladet 31 x 20,5 cm.) Klisterspår i övre hörnen efter tidigare montering, aningen lagerfläckad i vänstermarginalen. Turinge socken är belägen i norra Södermanland mellan Södertälje och Mariefred. Erik Dahlberg bosatte sig här 1680 sedan han blivit ägare till gården Ströppsta, som tillhört hans svärfar. Av gården finns idag ingenting kvar, det gör däremot Dahlbergs egenhändigt 'designade' gravkor i Turinge kyrka, som avbildas här. Den unga svenska stormakten marknadsförde på 1600-talet i talrika skrifter både sin ärofyllda historia och sin glänsande roll i samtiden. Det ojämförligt största projektet var Erik Dahlbergs (1625-1703) mäktiga barockplanschverk Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna - 'det dåtida och nuvarande Sverige', inspirerat bl. a. av Matthaeus Merian den yngres 'Theatrum Europaeum'. Det innehåller avbildningar av landets städer och främsta slott - antingen såsom de verkligen såg ut, eller som man ansåg att de borde se ut, eller snart skulle se ut.Verket består av sammanlagt 354 kopparstick, påbörjades redan på 1660-talet och avslutades först 1715 vid stormaktstidens slut. Den planerade texten utgavs inte alls. De tidigaste 98 planscherna graverades efter Dahlbergs teckningar i Paris av Adam Perelle, Jean Marot, Jean Le Pautre och Nicolas Perelle. Efter stora förseningar fortsattes arbetet i Sverige av en mängd gravörer, bl. a. holländare som inbjudits att arbeta i Stockholm. Bland dessa fanns Dionysius Padt Brugge, som fullbordade 9 planscher, Willem Swidde (84 planscher), och Johan van den Aveelen (144 planscher).Tryckningen av gravyrerna ägde rum i Stockholm, vanligen i en upplaga om 1000 exemplar (men ibland 1500 eller 2000). Verket var ursprungligen avsett att användas endast som hedersgåva, och några exemplar av det som fanns färdigtryckt distribuerades redan innan verket var fullbordat. På 1720-talet såldes 600 exemplar, 1751 ytterligare 50, och planscher och uppsättningar såldes därefter långt in på 1800-talet.Erik Dahlbergs originalteckningar finns idag i Kungl. Biblioteket och utgavs i 4 volymer 1963-70. Även de med stor möda framställda kopparplåtarna finns bevarade (Nationalmuseum).Första delen ägnas Stockholm och Uppland, andra delen Södermanland, Västmanland, Dalarna, Närke, Värmland, Gästrikland, Hälsingland, Medelpad, Ångermanland, Jämtland, Västerbotten, Åland och Lappland, tredje delen Östergötland, Västergötland, Gotland, Dalsland, Småland, Öland, Skåne och Halland. This book is the first to present an almost exhaustive history of stucco in Europe, subdivided into sections on Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the 16-19th centuries. As an applied art, stucco has been little studied and has not benefited from the full attention lavished on painting, sculpture and architecture. However, the stucco - used to cover ceilings and walls, both inside and outside - and whose technique was born in ancient Egypt, enjoys an intriguing history, experiencing a period of great flowering in the classical period, then from the Renaissance until the 19th century. Wrongly considered by common sense to be simply white, monochrome and therefore a somewhat boring art, it has nevertheless been the subject of significant phases of polychrome expression since Antiquity. The discovery of the Domus aurea in Rome in the 16th century initiated its consecration in the Renaissance, in particular in the Vatican Lodges of Raphael or with its introduction into France by François I at the Château de Fontainebleau. Born from these premises, the stucco decoration came to experience an immense fortune in the whole of Europe during the Baroque period, then during the Rococo when it follows a more graceful and polychrome declination, to develop, in the 19th century, according to the styles and forms specific to eclecticism. The stucco therefore never remained on the sidelines. Constantly associated with other techniques, its presence enlivens walls and ceilings, its colors transmit luminosity and chiaroscuro, in a kaleidoscope of shapes and vibrations. This is what this reference work endeavors to highlight, taking up these artistically essential masterpieces of art history. - - - Ce livre est le premier à présenter une histoire quasi exhaustive du stuc en Europe. Comme art appliqué, le stuc a été peu étudié par l'historiographie et n'a pas bénéficié de toute l'attention prodiguée à la peinture, à la sculpture et à l'architecture. Pourtant, le stuc - enduit teinté dans la masse, à base de chaux, utilisé en recouvrement des plafonds et des murs, aussi bien à l'intérieur qu'à l'extérieur - et dont la technique voit le jour dans l'Égypte ancienne, jouit dans l'histoire de l'art d'un passé intrigant, connaissant une période de grande floraison à l'époque classique, puis de la Renaissance jusqu'au XIXe siècle. C'est ce que s'attache à mettre en lumière cet ouvrage de référence, relevant ce pari artistiquement essentiel de remettre au premier plan ces chefs-d'œuvre méconnus de l'histoire de l'art.

The masters of intarsia adopted the newly developed technique of linear perspective to depict their most characteristic themes, namely, cityscapes viewed through an archway and illusionistic renderings of half-open cabinets filled with liturgical or scholarly equipment. At first these enchanting scenes in wood were found mainly in ecclesiastical settings - on choir stalls and in sacristies - but by the later Quattrocento they were also used to decorate the Studioli, or private studies, of powerful secular patrons. Eventually, in the Cinquecento, intarsists began to push the limits of their medium with figural scenes of ever-greater complexity; this ambitious yet perhaps quixotic attempt to rival the art of painting led to many technical and aesthetic innovations, but also to an abandonment of intarsia's natural geometric strengths and its ultimate decline as an independent art. In this volume, the first modern survey of Renaissance intarsia, a team of art historians trace the evolution of the medium through a discussion of twelve of the most important intarsia cycles. These include the famous studiolo of Federico da Montefeltro in the ducal palace at Urbino; the sacristy of Santa Maria in Organo at Verona, which Vasari described as the most beautiful in all of Italy; and the choir of Santa Maria Maggiore in Bergamo, the cartoons for which were prepared by Lorenzo Lotto. Läckert exemplar i gott skick. (Företalet, in extenso:) "Sällskapet Pro Fide et Christianismo, det svenska samfundet för tro och kristligt lif, hade till uppgift att med yttersta sorgfällighet befordra kristendomens tillväxt och utöfning i Svea Rike. Sällskapet stiftades den 27 Mars 1771 af hofpredikanten dr. Karl Magnus Wrangel efter förebilden af den engelska föreningen For Promoting Christian Knowledge. Samfundet arbetade på två divisioner, en pastoraldivision och en uppfostringsdivision, och verkade hufvudsakligen genom utgifvande af en mängd smärre skrifter och cirkulär samt genom inrättandet af katekesskolor. Från år 1841 inrättades så kallade stafvareklasser för äldre barn, som ej kunde läsa innantill. Genom detta sitt intresse för undervisningen af det fattigare folkets barn blef sällskapet en banbrytare för folkskoleväsendet i vårt land. En hufvuduppgift blef med anledning af denna samfundets verksamhet åstadkommandet och utgifvandet af goda läroböcker. Den mest bekanta af dessa böcker är den så kallade Kronprinsens ABC-bok, som utgafs första gången 1780 och tillägnades Kronprins Gustaf Adolf. Barnaboken består dels af 16 af Jacob Gillberg [Värmland 1724-1793 Stockholm] graverade blad, upptagande tänkespråk för hvarje af alfabetets bokstäfver, dels af Läsebok för barn och Kort sammandrag af Christendomsunskapen, de bägge senare afdelningarne tryckta i Kongl. Tryckeriet af H. Fougt. Den utgafs i tvänne upplagor, en i kvart, som innehöll Gillbergs gravyrer samt texten och en i oktav, som endast innehöll texten. Till bägge upplagorna hörde en skriftafla äfven graverad i koppar, men icke af Gillbergs hand. Sedermera hafva af Barnaboken flera upplagor sett dagen. Då samtliga kopparplåtarna till Gillbergs gravyrer af en konstvän inköpts och ställts till Föreningens förfogande, har det synts lämpligt att göra ännu en reproduktion af ett af den framstående svenska gravörens mera uppmärksammade arbeten. Plåtarna äro af ägaren öfverlämnade till Svenskt bokindustrimuseum och någon ny upplaga kommer därför icke att utgifvas. Det har ansetts lämpligt att icke bifoga texten till Barnaboken, då meningen uteslutande varit att till Föreningens medlemmar lemna ett prof på 1700-talets kopparstickskonst, och då detta kunnat ske genom tryckning från originalplåtar, så är det af särskildt stort värde. Om Jacob Gillberg torde här icke behöfva lemnas några närmare uppgifter. Erinras må att han var född 1724 och dog 1793. Han åtnjöt anseende som en framstående kopparstickare och etsare. De större konstblad, han utgaf, tillhöra till stor del det förnämsta som svensk grafstickel frambragt. De till barnabokens kopparstick hörande verserna äro författade af rådmannen Johan Wellander, en af sin tids vittra författare, född 1735 och död 1783. Hans samlade dikter äro utgifna 1852 af P. Hanselli".

Facsimile of the first published work to bear Swedenborg's name (although it was most probably written by his professor), an academical dissertation which Swedenborg defended at Uppsala university in 1709. Swedenborg had been enrolled at the university at age 11 in 1699, and after his disputation he travelled abroad to the Netherlands, France, Germany and London, where he stayed for four years.

The conference was supported under the Sixth Framework Programme (Specific Support to Policy). It was organised in cooperation with the European Commission by the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ITAM) of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic following the earlier conferences in Rome (1997), Aachen (1998), Santiago di Compostela (1999), Strasbourg (2000), Cracow (2002) and London (2004). The overall aim of the conference was the consolidation and impact assessment of results achieved in EU research projects related to the movable, immovable and infrastructure applied to cultural heritage with a special focus on exploitation and spin-offs of cultural heritage research results and testing the acceptability of new technologies and sustainability approaches by the user community, SMEs, owners, managers, conservationists and restorers of the cultural heritage. More than 280 participants from 37 countries representing a large number of research and end-user organisations from the public and private sector took part in 210 oral presentations and posters covering the plenary sessions on 'The impact of EU policies on European cultural heritage', 'Coordination of national research and education', and 'Challenges of European cultural heritage' as well as the parallel sessions on the 'movable heritage', the 'immovable heritage', 'Cities, landscapes and villages', and 'Research infrastructure' applied to cultural heritage. The poster exhibition gathered almost 100 posters related to the themes of the parallel sessions, and a 'demonstration salon' was opened to innovative products and processes".
