The Flensborg Collection". Catalogue for a sale (955 lots) on October 28-31, 1997. - - - "The Flensburg collection was created by the Danish-German private collector, Kay Uwe Jensen in Flensburg. Mr. Kay Uwe Jensen trained as a shipbroker and has carried on a considerable business as a merchant in the border area. The collection was acquired during numerous trips to Northern Europe, visits to auctioneers and antique dealers as well as palaces and manorhouses. Kay Uwe Jensen has taken great pride in bringing the objects back to their original condition. His interest and the ability to restore and maintain historical monuments do not only comprise works of art, but also houses worth preserving in the former Danish area south of the border. The reason for putting the collection up for auction at Bruun Rasmussen is a wish that in the future Kay Uwe Jensen will be able to devote himself to the restoration of buildings. Works of art of this importance have seldom been seen at Bruun Rasrnussen's auctions. In order to find a more important collection we have. to go back to the art collection of Ole Olsen, sold at auction in the 40s. The collection of Ole Olsen was more varied, but the collection of Kay Uwe Jensen is more significant as regards furniture, gilt bronzes, chandeliers and faience.
