* Praktika der Wundartzney is the most famous work by the Swiss surgeon Felix Würtz (c. 1510-c. 1595) and was first published in Basel 1563. Here, he combines his practical knowledge on surgery (Würtz had no academic background but worked as a surgeon for decades) with the contemporary medical teachings. His work has been called one of the most original contributions to 16th century medical literature.
** His brother Rudolf added the "Kinderbüchlein" to the material in 1612. The "Kinderbüchlein" is considered a pionering work on paediatric surgery.
