Condition varies from very good to good++, with some edgewear, chipping and marginal restorations to the printed wrappers and the backstrips Housed in a blue cloth box (with slight edgewear) with title in gold to the spine .

* First Edition of Dickens's last complete novel, where Greed and The River Thames are two of the main characters. The book first appeared in these twenty monthly serial parts (the last one being a double-number) from May 1864 through November 1865.
** All the wrappers are in first edition [including the first issue]. With the preliminary leaves readymade for a bound edition in two volumes in parts 10 & 19/20 (ie. titleleaves, halftitleleaves, table of contents, list of illustrations and more). Of the ads and slips inserted, the set only lacks the extremely scarce 'Economic Life Assurance Society' slips in vol. 14 (but present in vol. 19/20). In part 1, the 'Fry's Homoeopathic Cocoa' is printed on lemon paper instead of pink (a variation not seen by Hatton and Cleaver).
