Bartolozzi, Francesco (?)
Hatt Rare Books ILAB & CINOA
lbh05735
Etching on laid paper, printed in red / reddish brown. 6,4 x 9,6 cms (plate), 6,9 x 10,2 cms (sheet). Double curved edge of circular watermark visible at foot. Minute repair top verso. Very fine. - - - A proof impression before letters is in the British Museum (Heal, 100.27). If indeed by Bartolozzi (1728-1815), the etching itself would have to be from 1815 at the latest, and used as a trade card with text for Daniell & Son only in or around 1827, when the firm was established. F. B. Daniell & Son were a London-based firm of print dealers active from 1827 until c. 1970. The firm specialized in British and French mezzotints, stipples, and color prints from the 18th and 19th centuries. Closely linked with the BM, and a trusted agent alongside Colnaghi. According to Dudley Snelgrove, in later years the shop was managed by Hugh Tregaskis.

Copenhagen: Fluxus Zone Nord / Panel 13, 1969. Concrete poetry, ‘objects trouvées’, and Fluxus items pages and inserts by a.o.: Hein Heinsen, Bjørn Nørgaard, Lene Adler Pedersen Henning Christiansen, Per Kirkeby. The condition is variable like is always with this work: condition of issue one and two are both unopened, issue three has as always heavy discoloring because the small plastic container with the rose cream that John Davidsen added to the set has imploded over the years - a phenomenon comparable to the balloon in Andy Warhol's Index Book. The cake that belonged to issue four is partly still existing in this set but has gone to pieces and also left discoloring to some pieces. More photos available upon request. First edition / første udgave, 1ste (og eneste) oplag. - In: Thomas Hvid Kromann: ‘Time Capsule from the Sixties – Ta’ BOX (1969–1970)’, in: ‘A Cultural History of the Avant-Garde in the Nordic Countries 1950-1975’, p.209. - Der findes ligeledes en fin lille film om produktionen af nr. 1, som kan ses online på biblioteket. Ultra-rare and important Fluxus Zone North / Avant-Garde Art publications - complete set of the issues that were in maildistribution. Number two and a half was sold at the Festival 200 and is not present. 1st (and only) editions. A Danish variant of the avantgarde Assembling magazine, like Aspen Magazine Box or like William Copley's S.M.S (SHIT MUST STOP) and maybe especially echoing Wolf Vostell and Joseph Beuys Decollage magazines - Beuys used a chocolate bar, here it was a heart shaped cake that in some cases, at least the first batch contained cannabis.. 25 x 36 cm plastic bags complete with contents. Number one and two are unopened (!) in the original worn stamped brown paper envelopes. Number 3 and 4 without the envelopes but in their original plastic bag. The cover of the plastic bag for number one has an original beautiful silkscreen print in red by Per Kirkeby. Extremely rare set.

BLIXEN, KAREN.
Herman H. J. Lynge & Søn A/S

København, Gyldendal, 1951. 8vo. In the original printed wrappers. With author's presentation to half-title: "Karen Blixen / med venlig / Hilsen. / April 1953". (i.e. Karen Blixen / With kind / regards / April 1953). Light wear to spine-ends and inner front hinge partly split. Last half of bookblock with dampstain to upper inner margin. 76, (1) pp. Presentation-copy of the first edition of Blixen's daguerreotypes. "Through these daguerreotypes we begin to understand other periods, the renunciations of World War I, the purpose of houses and mansions, of ritual ceremonials, such as tatooing. We are given a fresh and vivid view of the women's movement . . . which urges that what our 'small society' needs beyond human beings who have demonstrated what they can do, is people who are. 'Indeed, our own time,' she wrote in 1953, 'can be said to need a revision from doing to being.' She demonstrated it in her own work and craft, with courage and with dignity. This collection is as real as a gallery of old daguerreotypes, moving and unfaded. The work, as Hannah Arendt says, of a wise woman." (Robert Kirsch, Los Angeles Times)

Forfattere i fokus: Bernhard Severin Ingemann

Large thick 8vo in softcover. 52, 569 pp. Illustrated b/w. Minor shelfwear only, a very good clean copy. The landmark anthology collecting for the first time the key historical documents that helped give definition and purpose to the conceptual art movement : "Compared to other avant-garde movements that emerged in the 1960s, conceptual art has received relatively little serious attention by art historians and critics of the past twenty-five years—in part because of the difficult, intellectual nature of the art. This lack of attention is particularly striking given the tremendous influence of conceptual art on the art of the last fifteen years, on critical discussion surrounding postmodernism, and on the use of theory by artists, curators, critics, and historians. This landmark anthology collects for the first time the key historical documents that helped give definition and purpose to the movement. It also contains more recent memoirs by participants, as well as critical histories of the period by some of today's leading artists and art historians. Many of the essays and artists' statements have been translated into English specifically for this volume. A good portion of the exchange between artists, critics, and theorists took place in difficult-to-find limited-edition catalogs, small journals, and private correspondence. These influential documents are gathered here for the first time, along with a number of previously unpublished essays and interviews. Contributors Alexander Alberro, Art & Language, Terry Atkinson, Michael Baldwin, Robert Barry, Gregory Battcock, Mel Bochner, Sigmund Bode, Georges Boudaille, Marcel Broodthaers, Benjamin Buchloh, Daniel Buren, Victor Burgin, Ian Burn, Jack Burnham, Luis Camnitzer, John Chandler, Sarah Charlesworth, Michel Claura, Jean Clay, Michael Corris, Eduardo Costa, Thomas Crow, Hanne Darboven, Raúl Escari, Piero Gilardi, Dan Graham, Maria Teresa Gramuglio, Hans Haacke, Charles Harrison, Roberto Jacoby, Mary Kelly, Joseph Kosuth, Max Kozloff, Christine Kozlov, Sol LeWitt, Lucy Lippard, Lee Lozano, Kynaston McShine, Cildo Meireles, Catherine Millet, Olivier Mosset, John Murphy, Hélio Oiticica, Michel Parmentier, Adrian Piper, Yvonne Rainer, Mari Carmen Ramirez, Nicolas Rosa, Harold Rosenberg, Martha Rosler, Allan Sekula, Jeanne Siegel, Seth Siegelaub, Terry Smith, Robert Smithson, Athena Tacha Spear, Blake Stimson, Niele Toroni, Mierle Ukeles, Jeff Wall, Rolf Wedewer, Ian Wilson.
