Near contemporary, brown quarter cloth bindings with marbled boards and hand-lettered spine labels. Corners slightly bumped and rubbed, volumes I and V with a couple of small (ca 1,5 cm) tears in the joints. Volume I with printed front wrapper tipped in to verso of front board and with neat annotation in pencil on page III. First free endpapers of all volumes with significant loss at upper edge, owner's rubber stamp on endpapers and title leaves. Volume II with pages 223 and 229 loose, page 223 also somewhat crudely and unevenly cut along the fore-edge, volume V with ca 2,5 cm tear at lower edge of the plate. The five different parts of this work bound in five separate volumes. The book is more commonly seen in publisher's pictorial cloth where all five parts are bound together.

Title-leaf with some tiny, contemporary inscriptions, interior else with some occasional foxing and some chips, tears and creases in the margin throughout.
