Bound in a beautiful, contemporary binding with spine and front edges in green morocco and matching hand marbled paper in green, white and with red flower motif to both boards. Endpapers in a matching red. Spine title and ruling in gilt. In slipcase also in marbled paper in green, red and white. Main motif from original dust wrapper tipped-in to rear flyleaf. Renowned Danish bookbinder Henning Jensen has signed the binding with his small stamp to rear pastedown. * A particularly elegant binding to match the magnificent ones depicted in the book. **Duncan Haldane was employed at the Victoria and Albert Museum for a number of years and the Islamic book collection and exhibitions was under his directive. Indbundet ubeskåret med de originale gule omslag, begge med træskåret vignet af Vilhelm Pedersen, i et smukt halvbind af brunt kalveskind med rygforgyldning (Juels Bogbinderi). Udvendige false med skrammer * BFN 650. Med undtagelse af det nye titelblad svarer bogen til førsteoplaget af den første samlede udgave af Andersens eventyrproduktion, som den forelå i 1850, med de kongeniale illustrationer af Vilhelm Pedersen (BFN 551). Yderste sjælden med de originale omslag bevaret.

Volumes 3-5 are first editions, the last volume was edited by Macaulay's sister, Lady Trevelyan..

P.A. Huldberg, Falun 1841. XII+144 sider. Indbundet ubeskåret med orig. bogtrykte omslag i et smukt grågrønt marmoreret papirbind (Jens E. Hansen). Omslaget plettet og diskret repareret. * Svarer i det store og hele til BFN 363 (Tredie Oplag af Fodreise... fra 1829). Det yderst sjældne foromslag viser, hvorfor en bogtrykker i Norrköping og en forlægger i Falun har kastet sig ud i at udgive Andersens næsten avantgardistiske ungdomsskrift på dansk med samt Johan Ludvig Heibergs recention af bogen. Værket indgår i en svensk serie, Danske Klassiker, og Andersens Fodreise har været udgivet som hefte 10-12 sammen med Fortællinger af Oehlenschläger. Initiativet afspejler Studenterskandinavismens vågnende interesse for de nordiske landes respektive kulturstrømninger. Andersen selv var umådelig stolt af denne svenske udgave.
