Bound in a beautiful, contemporary binding with spine and front edges in green morocco and matching hand marbled paper in green, white and with red flower motif to both boards. Endpapers in a matching red. Spine title and ruling in gilt. In slipcase also in marbled paper in green, red and white. Main motif from original dust wrapper tipped-in to rear flyleaf. Renowned Danish bookbinder Henning Jensen has signed the binding with his small stamp to rear pastedown. * A particularly elegant binding to match the magnificent ones depicted in the book. **Duncan Haldane was employed at the Victoria and Albert Museum for a number of years and the Islamic book collection and exhibitions was under his directive. A few contemporary notes to the flyleaf, first leaf of the Tibullus work and at the back of the book. Name to the verso of the flyleaf. * Nice Amsterdam edition of the two Roman poets of the late republic.

Near fine-. * The Maeght publications were immensely popular, both because of the quality of the prints, but also because they contained a series of important art work in lithography.

Hjørner lidt stødte og skrammede på sideskindet. * Godt sæt af Vaupells kendte værk om den dansk-norske (og efter 1814 den danske) hærs historie fra 1600 og frem til værkets egen samtid lige efter krigen i 1864. Værket er navnlig berømmet for F.C. Lunds ganske dygtigt udførte farvelitograferede uniformsplancher.

Arrian (Lucius Flavius Arrianus [c. 86-160], Roman philosopher and philosopher, was also the pupil of Epictetus and wrote down his teacher's thoughts.

Good+. * Works of art from Benin, West Africa 'obtained' - or rather taken by force during the punitive expedition in 1897 after the unsuccesful attempt of annexing the kingdom. Some of the bronzes are now in the Pitts Rivers Museum.

Second part is Sophocles, translated by Scaliger's son Joseph Justus Scaliger [1540-1609] was a professor of Classical literature at the university of Leiden.
