Observationerne indgår i Horrebows banebrydende forståelse af solpletternes periodicitet. Opdagelsen af solpletternes kommen og gåen beskrev Christian Horrebow i Dansk Historisk Almanak i 1775.

Filing number written on back. * Fernando Botero [1932-2023] was a Columbian artist, known for his very round exagerrated depiction of people, termed 'Boterismo'. He painted and made sculptures, which can be seen all around the world. Much of his work had a political undertone, especially the series of paintings he made in 2005 called Abu Ghraib, which depicts the American forces abuse of the prioners at the Abu Ghraib prison during the Iraq War.

Bound in a nice, recent half calf binding with four raised bands. First titleleaf soiled and with owner's names to it. Two worm holes throughout the book, causing a letter or two to be missed at each leaf. A bit of soiling to the right margin, not affecting text. A bit of dampstaining. * Charming book with Greek and Latin parallel text for the use of students in the early 17th century.

Some wear and repair along outer hinges. Head and foot of spine both missing ca. 2mm. Two newer bookplates to pastedown and free endpaper. Older owner's names to verso of free endpaper. Titlepage stained with ink making printing place illegible and also affecting closest 3-4 pages * Henri Estienne/ Henricus Stephanus (the younger) [1528/31-1598] was third generation in the line of great renaissance printers in Paris and Geneva. He worked in the Genevan republic in the years around 1569 publishing his famous and long-lasting Greek thesaurus and bibles among other books. This tiny book is a selection of quotations from classical greek plays.

Some rubbing to binding. Some signs of use. The back cover has a small tear on the upper corner, no loss of text or printing. Bookplate on pastedown. Inscription on the halftitlepage. Covers with a little browning, inside nice and clean. * Inscribed by Edmond d. Goncourt to Emile Bergerat. Bergerat was a French journalist, son-in-law of Gautier and a personal friend of Goncourt. ** The bookplate is Marguerite Hollatz', French teacher, professor, translater who settled in Denmark during the First World War. According to an inscription on the flyleaf, the book was given to her from Karl Madsen, Director of the Danish National Art Museum.*** This is the Goncourts' first book, originally published in 1851 on the day that Louis Napoleon seized power in a coup d'état. The printer made certain cuts in one of the political chapters; these were restored in the present edition.
