Spine carefully renewed, reusing most of the original backstrip. Inscription on front flyleaf. Some foxing throughout. * American edition, based on the first British 1847 edition, including 'The Fir Tree', 'The Snow Queen' and 'The Red Shoes'. Otto Speckter's illustrations were highly regarded by H.C. Andersen, who often remarked that they were the most brilliant available.

Slid på udvendige false og kapitæler. * Med stor dedikation, hele smudstitelbladet, fra Kaj Munk. ** Blædel 34. Marcussen 33. Godt eksemplar af Kaj Munks sidste bog, der på grund af de skærpede forhold i Danmark efter 29. august 1943 kun blev udgivet for en meget begrænset kreds i form af dette korrekturtryk. Publikationen angives at have et oplag på 500 eksemplarer. Munk-bibliografen Ove Marcussen oplyser, at satsen var klar 7. september 1943, men blev styrtet allerede to dage senere, efter at der kun var lavet en snes eksemplarer. Antallet vides ikke sikkert.

Noget gulplettet. * Værket skriver sig ind i den svenske stormagtstids bestræbelser på at koble forestillingerne om et vældigt götisk sagnrige med de bevarede skriftlige kilder, herunder islandske sagaer.

The binding is still sound, but rather worn with parts of the leather missing on the corners and at the top of the spine. Binding also somewhat rubbed. The copy has a handwritten translation of the title of each entry written in Danish 18th century hand. * Amusing work with no less than 630 copperplate engravings depicting and descriping all sorts of poetic elements, such as Envy, Greed, Nymphes, Love, Superstition, Immortality and no the less than six different types of Amour. This copy includes the sometimes removed article on Adultery.

Second woodcut titleleaf with a cut-out, restored with hand drawing in old hand, as well as various old name, one dated 1594 [Nicolaus Forssaeus Andelocen]. Small holes to the margin of the last leaf, not affecting text. * Two parts [of five] of Robert Estienne's great Cicero edition from 1538-39.

The 2 volumes consist of 12 series of amusing litographed caricature cartoons of life in Paris and among the Parisians.

Slight foxing. * Fine binding from the Napoleonic era. An Italian tribute to Napoleon who then had been master of Italy since 1797.

Contemporary red morocco with frame and oval surrounded by rays in gilt to boards, green titlelabel to spine. All edges gilt. Spine expertly repaired preserving most of original. Repair also to upper and lower edges of front board. Mild darkening to endpapers mirroring binding material. Small, later notes in pencil to front endpapers. Twentieth century sheet with typed description of the book inserted to verso of front free endpaper. A couple of small dog-ears. Tip of lower corner of page 453/454 cut off. * Gabriele Zinano (or Zinani) 1557- ca. 1634/35.

Beautiful etchings.

Stamp to the titleleaf [sold from a Danish military library]. Near fine. * Nice and extensive work on military drills. Anton, Freyherrn von Zach [1747-1826] was born in Pest, and was part of the Austrian defeat against the French at the Battle of Marengo in 1800m, where he was captured by Napoleon. His further participation in the Napoleonic wars weren't exactly flashing, but he certainly could drill his soldiers!

Stemplerne på bind 1-2 varierer ubetydeligt fra de øvrige. Samtidig håndskrevet indholdsfortegnelse på forsats og friblad i bind 1. Fribladet løsnet. Titelfelterne noget krakelerede. * Komplet sæt af Holbergs epistler sammensat af to uniformt indbundne udgaver i kønne samtidige spejlbind. Bind 5 udkom efter Holbergs død i 1754.

Med denne lille bog, udsendt to og et halvt år efter de første eventyr, lancerede Andersen med "Lykkens Kalosker" sit første eventyr decideret for voksne.
