Binding signed 'René Kieffer, Relieures d'Art'. * Copy number 268 of 500 copies printed on Vélin blanc de cuve (of a total edition of 550 copies). The wonderful binding is also from Kieffers renowned publishing house/ bookbindery.

Trykt som manuskript, Odense 1884. 174 sider. Indbundet i blåt, komponeret helshirtingsbind. Let gulplettet. * Meget sjælden. Efter alt at dømme er det den kun 18-årige Sophus Michaëlis' [1865-1932] debut i bogform; hans egentlige debut 'Digte' udkom først i 1888. Med dedikation fra Michaëlis: 'Til Frk. Nelly Holbeck [1865-1946; ligeledes fra Odense]/ fra en af denne ringe Bogs allerringeste Forfatter Sophus Michaëlis / D. 25de Febr. 1884'. Ligeledes vedlagt er der et brev 'En lille Vintergæk!' blandt andet 'Vintergrønt'', som er dateret samme dag og indeholder et romantisk 15-strofers digt. Den unge Michaëlis har givetvis forsøgt at gøre sine hoser grønne hos frøken Holbeck, men hun blev gift to år senere til anden side. Sophus blev i stedet gift med Katharina Marie Bech Brøndum - bedre kendt som Karin Michaelis.** Digtene i den lille antologi er alle anonyme, med undtagelse af nogle digte af Uffe Biilmann [senere præst] og de fem digte af Sophus Michaelis, der allerede dengang har både set og omtalt sig som forfatter.

(8) pages + (12) + (8 sheets) + 312 reproductions of the etchings in their original sizes [complete]. The illustrations are mounted on sheets (some full page, some more on one sheet). The background sheets of the first batch are of a different quality than the last two batches. Loose leaves in a privately made wooden book-like box with vellum spine and corners. A few sheets with closed tears along the edges, not affecting the reproductions. A couple of sheets have been folded once, so there is a fold to the motif as well. * Grand work on Rembrandt's production of fantastic etchings. It was originally published in three folders, but this massive, custom-made box gives it the majesty it deserves.

Titelbladet med illustration af en runesten med både runer og tre kroner. Træskåret vignet på sidste side. Begge indbundet sammen i et smukt, samtidigt helbind af kalv med bindforhøjninger og rig rygforgyldning. Kanter, permer og ryg med let slid. Nederste 3 cm af ydre fals langs forpermen revnet.

Uncut in publishers cased binding. Lower spine-end cracked. A few plates with foxing due to paper quality. Otherwise a remarkably fresh copy of this attractive book. * First edition came 1823 and is identical to this edition. Parts of the pagination in the first chapters have been change from Arab into Roman numerals. A. Andersen Feldborg was a Dane living in England right from the beginning of the 19th century. He made large efforts to open his new countrymens' eyes for the qualities of his native country, despite the Anglo-Danish wars of 1801 and 1807-14. Among the artists behind the plates are C.W. Eckersberg, the founder of Danish Golden Age painting.

Old stamp and names to the red and black titleleaf of the first volume. Stamp and name to the flyleaf of the second volume [where there is no seperate titleleaf, nor should there be]. Beautifully marbled pastedowns. * A very charming set, Parallel text in Latin and Greek.

Ubeskåret i orig. kartonnager med lærredsryg og bogtrykte rygtitelfelter. Lidt gulplettet. Bogblokkene sidder lidt løse i bindene (men holder stadig). Rygge og kanter med slitage. Ryggen på bind 1 noget plettet og meget lysere end på de to andre bind. * Et lidt slidt sæt af den sjældne førsteudgave af Steen Billes rejseberetning. Formålet med Steen Billes lange togt 1845-47 var at overdrage de danske besiddelser i Indien til Storbritannien, indlede kolonisering af Nikobarerne og foretage etnografiske og hydrografiske undersøgelser. Koloniseringen af Nikobarerne blev hurtigt opgivet, men Bille hjembragte betydeligt videnskabeligt materiale. ** Account on the Danish circumnavigation of the globe 1845-47. The purpose of the voyage was to lead the transition of the Danish colonies in India to Britain and to gather scientific material. Bille´s account is illustrated with etnographic litographs and maps.
