Nydeligt pastichehalvbind fra anden halvdel af 1800-tallet af brunt kalveskind med rygforgyldning. I matchende kassette. Tekstbladene indsat ved plancherne. Plancherne forsynet med nummerangivelse i øverste hjørne. Numrene anført med håndskrift i registeret bag i bogen. Forreste udvendige fals med revne ved nederste kapitæl. Let gulplettet. * Nydeligt eksemplar af Jens Stephan Hegers (1769-1855) populært anlagte, men nydeligt udførte plancheværk om danske lægeplanter. Forfatteren var storebror til Kamma (gift Rahbek) og Christiane (gift Oehlenschläger) og satsede som flere i familien først på teatervejen efter alsidige, men uafsluttede universitetsstudier. Han blev en udmærket skuespiller, men ragede åbenbart uklar med alt og alle, herunder sine to indflydelsesrige svogere. Efter sin afsked fra Det Kongelige Teater helligede han sig et alsidigt formidlende forfatterskab, hvorfra nærværende bog turde være det smukkeste resultat.

Med 35 kobberstukne og træskårne plancher, herunder et foldet generalkort over Danmark, et stort kort over København samt prospekter af slotte og købstæder. Samtidigt helbind af brunmarmoreret kalveskind med rig rygforgyldning og spejldekoration. Gl. tilskrift nederst på titelbladet. * Et virkelig godt eksemplar af det første tilløb til det, der mange år senere blev til Pontoppidans Danske Atlas. Den utrættelige polyhistor Erik Pontoppidan behandler både kongeriget og hertugdømmet Slesvig, hvor man kun knap ti før havde fået indlemmet de gottorpske dele, så Sønderjylland nu udgjorde et hele under den danske konge. ** Billedstoffet er ret naivt, men giver et brugbart billede af Danmark efter Store Nordiske Krig. Prospektet af København viser byen før den ødelæggende brand 1728, mens Københavns Slot er gengivet som det så ud efter Frederik IV's harmoniserende ombygning. Værket indeholder desuden et af de tidligste billeder af Fredensborg Slot.

Folded twice. * Very charming personal letter from Hergé to Jørgen Sonnergaard, who translated Tintin's adventures to Danish. Hergé visited Denmark in 1971 and had a good time with the Sonnergaard family - as well as signing a LOT of albums. Hergé thanks Sonnergaard for a visit to Tivoli in Copenhagen, as well as sending him articles from the Danish tabloid press concerning the trip to Denmark.

Numbering and area handwritten to the back side of the maps. * Very charming small atlas with lavishly hand coloured maps. Tiny plans of the various fortifications of the cities. It was first published in 1709, but this second edition is completely different, as they were published during the War of the Spanish Succession, and most of Europe was in turmoil. A lot of the officers brought this handy travel atlas along with them.

Sonnergaard had sent Hergé a Comic Section from the New York American as a birthday gift, and the delighted Hergé promised to have it framed for his wall. The reason for Hergé writing in English was that Sonnergaard actually didn't understand French that well, even though he had translated Tintin!

Ryggen mangelfuld (men syningen er fin og permerne sidder stadig på. Små mangler ved det nederste hjørne af forpermen og de første sider. Et navnetræk på inderpermen og tre navnetræk på titelbladet. Nogle af sangene markeret med et kryds (med gammel blæk) i marginen ved førse strofe. Ormehul ved indermarginen på de sidste otte sider (uden teksttab). Gennemgående lidt plettet. * Den meget sjældne andenudgave af Ambrosius Stubs digte, udgivet og med fortale af hans bror Christian Stub. Det er ikke et prangende eksemplar, men fremstår charmerende i sin simple form: Sådan så bogen ud, når man fik den hos boghandleren. Giv den en god bogæske.**Ambrosius Stub (1705-58) levede hele livet fra hånden i munden, omend på stundom munter og studentikos facon, og opnåede kun at se et eneste af sine digte på tryk, men samtiden elskede dem, eftersom de verserede i afskrifter. Det kom til at vare længe, før eftertiden fik helt overblik over dette udsøgte lyriske forfatterskab. Andenudgaven er forøget med talrige tekster, bl.a. Stubs smukke salme Uforsagt hvordan min Lykke end i Verden blive maa, som ganske gribende formidler hans frejdige livssyn og hans skæbne. Teksten havde dog været trykt, i en let afvigende form og uden navn, i H.J. Graaes Arier og Sange (1773-77), men det er i skikkelsen fra 1780, den er vandret videre. Bibl. Dan. IV,248. Two parts in one volume. Revue et augmentee en cette seconde edition, de plusieurs figures, de tresbeaux Bastimens et Edifices de Ljunention. Claude Jombert et al, Paris no date [1681]. Folio (leaves are 29 x 44 cm). Engraved titleleaf + 75 full page engraved plates (printed on both recto and verso) + (1 blank) + engraved titleleaf + 32 plates, hereof 22 foldable. Bound in a nice, moderne pastiche full speckled calf binding with six raised bands to the spine and blindtooled borders to the boards. Printed on good thick paper, but dampstained throughout the book. A couple of leaves with minor tears at the edges, well outside the prints due to the broad margins. * Main work of the French architect Le Muet [1591-1669], whose many town houses and chateaux are still to be seen in France today. The work was originally published in 1623 (with a reprint in 1647), but this edition is the final and enlarged. The text pages are also made in copper plate engraving.

Gammelt navn (Arlaud) på fribladet. Svagt plettet på titelbladet og de første sider. * Af allerstørste sjældenhed: Med dedikation (beskåret ved indbindingen) fra Schack St(affeldt). til 'min Ven, Prof. Ols(en)'. ** Det udkomne [efterfølgeren fra 1808 hedder blot Nye Digte og ikke 2det Bind]. Schack Staffeldts banebrydende digte udkom et år efter Oehlenschlägers gennembrudsdigte på samme forlag og tilnærmelsesvist samme udstyr. Åbningsdigtet i samlingen, Indvielsen, er et hovedværk i dansk romantisk lyrik, i samme klasse som Guldhornene. Romantikken var kommet til Danmark.

Bound in a contemporary full calf binding with blindtooled borders to the boards. Two small wormholes to the spine. A bit of rubbing and edgewear. A bit of dampstaining to the margin of Les Deux Freres Rivaux to the first pages. Mordern name in ink to the inner board. Small piece of the back pastedown missing. * Four extremely scarce early Scarron editions.

Bound in a contemporary full calf binding, spine expertly restored. Black patch on the engraved titleleaf [a name crossed out?] and a stamp to the typographical titleleaf [Cad. Inst., Eisenstadt (Austria)]. Endpapers stained. Bookplate inserted. * First edition (with numerous later reprints). Important treatise on fortifications by 'The Great Blondel [1618-1686],, the renowned architect, soldier and diplomat.

Illustrated with nine photos in b/w (plus frontispiece) (complete). Bound untrimmed in the original cloth. Exterior mildly and unevenly sunned. A couple of small holes to the cloth on the spine. As always, the cloth is a bit creased. * The scarce second edition - revised by the author and with new photographs - of Gandhi's autobiography. It was originally published in two volumes in 1927-29, two decades before India's independence from Great Britain. It is bound in the special Indian Khadi cloth that Gandhi [1869-1948] promoted as part of the struggle for independence. Both the first and second edition are very scarce.

Contemporary full calf binding with richly blindtooled spine. Gilt contemporary coat-of-arms on both boards. Bookplate on front endpaper. Upper spine-end partly broken. Wormholes in back board. * One of several Jesuit contributions to fortification theory following the Turkish siege of Vienna i 1683.

Bound untrimmed with the original wrappers and backstrip preserved in a nice half morocco binding with handpainted modernist sidepapers. Bound by Danish master bookbinder Henning Jensen. Gilt exlibris stamp to the inner board. * Very nice copy indeed of this modernist masterpiece. It was published in Paris due to its daring nautre and was prohibited in both the UK and US. During the 1930's this ban was lifted and editions were printed outside France as well.

Publisher's soft cover with dust wrappers. Fine. Box with slight soiling to lid. * One of 100 numbered sets with text in German. Excellent work, presenting the history of zoological illustration through original material, including 2 incunabula leaves. The accompanying book is an authoritative bibliography.

Outer hinge of volume 4 slightly split, but still sound and holding. Small name to the flyleaf of volume 1 and 3. * Scarce. A nice, tight copy of this second edition of Plutarch translated to French by Jacques Amyot.

Thomas McLean, London 1839. Elephant-folio. 26 hand coloured litographs mounted on cardboard in portfolio as issued. Portfolio with black spine and black titlelabel lettered in gilt to front board. Portfolio with edgewear. Lower hinge with a split (approximately 2.5 cm). Front board with cloth waving, possibly due to earlier water damage (no sign of this to inside board). Rear board scuffed and with rubbing. Plates clear and bright. The cardboard on which the plates are mounted with some foxing. * First part of the monumental masterpiece which was published in a total of four volumes/portfolios in the years 1839-49. Nash trained with architect Augustus Charles Pugin which is clearly visible in his excellent grasp of the spacial qualities of the rooms he portrays. The groups of people and pets placed in the spaces are endearing, but secondary. **Includes two sets of descriptive texts and prices for the two states in which this work was published. Far the most common is the version with printed plates. This hand-coloured edition is rarer and by far the most charming.

The first 7 volumes of Erste Abteilung include all philosophical, economic, historical and political works, publications, articles and speeches of Marx and Engels 1844-1848, including The German Ideology (volume I/5) and The Communist Manifesto (volume I/6).
