Dell Paperback, 1967. 191 pp. Cover worn. Clean inside. The Body Snatchers is a science fiction novel by American writer Jack Finney, originally serialized in Collier's magazine in November–December 1954 and first published in book form the following year. The novel describes the town of Mill Valley, in California's Marin County, being invaded by seeds that have drifted to Earth from space. The seeds, grown from plantlike pods, replace sleeping people with perfect physical duplicates with all the same knowledge, memories, scars, etc. but are incapable of human emotion or feeling. The human victims disappear forever. The duplicates live only five years and cannot sexually reproduce; consequently, if unstopped, they will quickly turn Earth into a dead planet and move on to the next world. One of the duplicate invaders claims this is what humans do – use up resources, wipe out indigenous populations, and destroy ecosystems in the name of survival. The novel has been adapted for the screen four times; the first film, Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 1956, the second in 1978, the third in 1993, and the fourth in 2007. It was also the basis of the 1998 movie The Faculty and the 2019 movie Assimilate.

Christensen, Inger:
Kirkegaards Antikvariat
kir59386
Edition Korrespondenzen, 2002. 8vo. 35 Seiten. Einband mit ein wenig Gebrauchsspuren sonst gut. 1. Aufl. AUTOR: Inger Christensen, geboren 1935 in Vejle/Jütland, lebt in Kopenhagen.

Kirkegaards Antikvariat
kir59643
Gyldendal 2009. Hardcover. 220 pp. Farveillustreret. Pænt rent eksemplar. "In 1965 Lennart Nilsson published images from inside the human uterus, the first photographs of prenatal life. The book that was to follow, A Child is Born, stunned the world - offering an unprecedented glimpse at the unseen world within our bodies, and our own beginnings. Using high-definition ultrasound technique, scanning electron and light microscopes, and advanced fibre optics Lennart Nilsson documents the miracle of human reproduction: the egg travelling down the fallopian tube; the sperm racing to meet it; the moment of fertilization; the very first cell division; the tiny embryo attaching to the uterine wall; the growth of eyes, ears, fingers and toes; and finally the moment of delivery itself - providing an astonishing glimpse of the first moments of life". Dette er den nye danske udgave.

GORDON, DEXTER. - Gordon, Maxine:
Kirkegaards Antikvariat
kir58887
University of California Press 2018. Hardcover, w jacket. 279 pp. Unread, like new copy. 1. ed.- "Sophisticated Giant presents the life and legacy of tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon (1923-1990), one of the major innovators of modern jazz. In a context of biography, history, and memoir, Maxine Gordon has completed the book that her late husband began, weaving his "solo" turns with her voice and a chorus of voices from past and present. Reading like a jazz composition, the blend of research, anecdote, and a selection of Dexter's personal letters reflects his colorful life and legendary times. It is clear why the celebrated trumpet genius Dizzy Gillespie said to Dexter, "Man, you ought to leave your karma to science." Dexter Gordon the icon is the Dexter beloved and celebrated on albums, on film, and in jazz lore--even in a street named for him in Copenhagen. But this image of the cool jazzman fails to come to terms with the multidimensional man full of humor and wisdom, a figure who struggled to reconcile being both a creative outsider who broke the rules and a comforting insider who was a son, father, husband, and world citizen. This essential book is an attempt to fill in the gaps created by our misperceptions as well as the gaps left by Dexter himself."
