Robert Lyall (1790-1831) spent a number of years in Moscow as physician to several noble families. He travelled through the Crimea, Georgia and the southern provinces of Russian in 1822, and returned to London in 1823 where he published his important work that includes a fine folding view of the Kremlin palace from the river.

Swedish naturalist, professor in Lund and among the pioneers as an entomologist in the Nordic region. Zetterstedts works Insecta Lapponica and Diptera Skandinaviae, are fundamental to the systematics of Diptera. His collections of Scandinavian, Lapland and world Diptera and Orthoptera are in the Zoological Museum of the University of Lund.. .
