Leipzig & Wien & Zürich, Int. Psychoanalyt. Verl. 1925 First edition. (4), 238 pp. + (2) pp. (adv.). Publisher's cloth. Owner signature. Condition: Very Good. Reik (1888-1969) was one of Freud's first students in Vienna. In Geständniszwang und Strafbedürfnis, Reik argues that neurotic symptoms such as blushing and stuttering can be seen as unconscious confessions that express the patient's repressed impulses while also punishing the patient for communicating these impulses. (Internationale Psychoanalytische Bibliothek, Nr. XVIII.)
