Small burn marks to last three leaves of vol. 8.

* The Comte d'Estrade was in the service of King Louis XIV from an early age (as a page) and continued to hold fine positions throughout his life. His career in foreign diplomacy started with a mission to Holland aged 19. During his span as a international networker he negociated the restitution of Dunkirk, the Treaty of Breda (1667) and the Treaty of Nijmwegen, while also travelling with the King. **Originally published in 1709, in an edition of five volumes. The present 1743 edition is the first to include all 9 volumes.
