En Colonia, por los herederos de Hermanno Demen, 1732 (8), Contemporary full leather with sprinkled edges and lavishly gilt spine with five raised bands. Boards slightly warped, spine and boards somewhat rubbed. Interior with some occasional foxing and dampstaining, pages 193-290 with some rather heavy dampstaining in the side margin, page 113 with some chipping at lower corner. Pages 160-192 faultily bound, but still complete though. Bilingual collection of model letters on a large variety of different topics, in French and Spanish. This is most probably the second edition, an earlier edition was published in Cologne in 1720 by the same publisher, Herman Demen.

Pärmarna med vissa skrapmärken, pärmhörnen något stukade, inlagan med någon enstaka obetydlig fläck, i övrigt ren. Fin uppsättning.

Henry Hobson Richardson (1838-1886) was one of the central architects of the later half of the 19th century in the US and a pioneer figure in the development of an indigenous, modern American style of architecture. Instead of the Neo-Gothic and École styles popular among his contemporaries, he was influenced by William Morris and John Ruskin and favoured horizontal lines, simple silhouettes, and uniform, large-scale details of Romanesque or Byzantine inspiration, thus intiating the Romanesque revival in the US. Among his influential designs were several community libraries, suburban railroad stations, educational buildings, and commercial and civic structures. The functionalism of his designs and his expressive use of materials presaged the revolutionary work of Louis Sullivan.

Publisher's blue cloth with gilt lettering. Boards somewhat shelf worn, spine ends and corners bumped and rubbed, volume 1 with a couple of tiny tears in the front joint. Front hinges cracked, books accordingly somewhat loose in the bndings. The foldings maps with some slight foxing at the verso, interiors else fine. Paste-down endpapers with the book-plate of Swedish zoologist and explorer Hugo Granvik, the half-title leaves with Granvik's signature. Condition Good-.
