What are saved search preferences?

If you use some of the same search criteria every time you search for books, use this form to save those preferences. If you have saved Advanced search preferences, you don’t have to enter them every time you use our Advanced search options. They will be automatically filled in for you. You can change your saved search preferences at any time. To do so, simply change the entries you see here and click on “Save Preferences”.

The search fields used are Author, Title and Keywords. Keyword searches all fields, including author and title fields – it is the same search that is also available at the top of the first page.

Enter the word(s) or number(s) you want to find. Try to use the most unique words that describe the book. You can also try subject words such as “botany” or “militaria”. Only titles that meet all search terms will be displayed. As a rule, fewer search terms will give more results and more search terms will give fewer results. Try your luck, combine different search terms, and also remember that many words can be spelled in several ways.

Search terms that are three letters or shorter do not give good results, there will be too many hits and thus the search will be imprecise. Keywords with four letters / characters and more will give you a more precise result.

From longer words, only the first 10-12 characters are used in the search.

The search results are displayed with the search form at the far left of the page, now equipped with a Refine button. Use this to search within the current selection. The new search result will be matched with the previous one, and only titles that appear in both will be displayed.

Titles will be displayed in alphabetical order by author, within author by title, within title by year. The alphabet used is the English one, with ä and Æ arranged as AE - ö as OE - Ü as UE - Þ as TH - Aa as Å and the rest as the most similar character without an accent.
