Interior with some faint, very occasional foxing, one page slightly creased at lower corner, else fine. Joseph Friedrich Enderlin (1732-1808) was born in Bötzingen, Baden, and later on studied botany, mathematics and physics at the University in Jena. Enderlin is considered one of the first in Germany to approach the topic of forestry from a scientific point of view. This is is the first edition of a rare and seminal work, which was published in a second edition in 1770. An attractive copy of this rare, seminal work on the scientific foundations of forestry.

Lipsiae, Haeredes 1696. 4:o. (2), 605 pp. + 8 (of 9, plate 7 missing) engraved plates. Contemporary vellum. First leaves with marginal light waterstain, otherwise very good. With contributions by, among others: Leibniz, Johann and Jacob Bernouilli and Giovanni Domenico Cassini.

Galerie Danthon 1929. (8) pp. + 3 mounted plates (of which one is in colour). Original printed wrappers, plates loose (as issued?). Spine a bit worn but overall very good. Henry Valensi (1883-1960), visionary artist. He was an active member of the Puteaux Group, exhibited alongside Marcel Duchamp, Fernand Léger and the Cubists Albert Gleizes and Jean Metzinger in the famous “Section d’Or” (Golden Section) exhibition in 1912. Later he became one of the creators of the Musicalist movement. Loosely added to this copy is an invitation card to the exhibition.

Publisher's leather binding with gilt spine, raised bands, decorated front panel in full bronze (depicting the Florentine coat of arms, the lily), back panel with five bronze knobs. Printed on thick, hand made paper. In cloth covered slip-case. Edition Bronze in 1946 hand numbered copies.

Tübingen, Cotta 1811-1817. First edition. XII, 515; (2), 573; (2), 538; 444; 448 pp. + 1 folding plate. 5 volumes in contemporary half calf, spines gilt, some wear. Small damage to foot of spine to vol. 2 and to head of vol. 5, one leaf with tear, a few pages with minor stain, more than 100 pgaes of vol. 4 with stain in upper margin. Still an attractive set.

Cassoviae, typis Joannis Michaelis Landerer, perpetui in Füskút, 1789 340, (8) pp. Contemporary boards with sprinkled edges. Boards quite heavily soiled and rubbed, corners bumped, spine ends chipped and torn, spine with two ca 5 cm tears at rear joint. Endpapers quite heavily soiled, title leaf with owner's signature, some pages slightly creased at corners, page 203 with triangular paper loss at upper corner (possibly also with minor text loss) measuring ca 5 x 2 cm, pages 205-210 with ca 1,5 cm tear at upper edge. Ferenc Xavér Szuhányi (1742-1824) was a Hungarian Jesuit monk and theologian. This is a work on a variety of theological topics, which, in the form of dialogues between a Cosmophilus and a Theophilus, deals with questions ranging from the exorcism of demons and the existence of Antichrist to whether miracles are possible or not and a variety of other topics. Scarce.

(6), litograferat dedikationsblad, 352 s. + Atlas: Litograferat titelblad + 84 kolorerade planscher (pl. 15-32 tryckta i färglitografi, resten handkolorerade). Lite senare skinnband, främre pärm blinddekorerade och med författare och titel i guld på främre pärm (Carl Svanbergs Bokbinderi, Växjö). Ryggen blekt, några svaga skrapmärken. En plansch med liten marginallagning, annars planscherna i gott skick. Texten i ett senare klotband. Ett preliminärblad och det litograferade dedikationsbladet finns inte med i detta ex. Exlibris. Detta arbete utkom med 4 delar text, 1570 s + 84 planscher . Sundevall själv medverkade dock bara till de ovan nämnda 352 sidorna. Arbetet slutfördes 1883-86 av Johan Gustaf Hjalmar Kinberg. Planscherna är tecknade av Peter Åkerlund och Paulina Sjöholm.

Minor rubbing but overall an attractive set. Printed covers bound in. The 4th volume has some damages to the joints. However, the cracks are shallow, and the binding is still firm. 6,6 kilos / 14,6 lbs Printed in 150 numbered copies on Hollande-paper, this is no. 22.

Later cloth, occasional foxing, a few neat underlines in the text, signature on title-page, overall very good. One of the most important books in the history of the exploration of Africa. First edition was published the same year.

Bruxelles 1843 (4), 592 pp. + 80 engraved coloured plates with tissue guards. With coloured title-vignette. Contemporary half calf, worn, front hinge slightly weak, 4 plates and 1 leaf loose and with minor marginal tear, otherwise internally fine.

Contemporary brown quarter cloth with marbled boards and gilt lettering to spine. Spine slightly slanted, lower corners just slightly bumped. The portrait partly loose, interior else fine. The first issue of the scientific journal Acta Mathematica, published under the auspices of King Oscar II of Sweden and edited by professor Gösta Mittag-Leffler (1846-1927). This issue contains two important articles by French mathematician Henri Poincaré (1854-1912) on so called automorphic functions, " Théorie des groupes Fuchsiennes" and "Mémoire sur les fonctions Fuchsiennes", both named after German Mathematician Lazarus Fuchs (1833-1902). This issue also contain articles by mathematicians such as Hugo Gyldén, Lazarus Fuchs, Émile Picard, Charles Hermite and others.

Inlagan genomgående lite solkig, flera blad nötta i marginalen, några med mindre lagningar, ett blad klippt i yttre marginal utan textförlust, titelbladet med namnteckning och med lagning efter borttagen namnteckning.

Maps with some faint, occasional foxing, a couple of the maps with a couple of tiny tears and creases along the edges. Volume III of Schoeller's account of his travels to East Africa and Uganda, containing a total of sixteen folding maps. Volumes I and II (which are missing here) contain the text.
