An indictment of eclectic style-imitation in Germany and Belgium, the authors speaking of the total downfall of architecture after 1870. "According to them, architecture was in the throes of a profound crisis and they didn't see any way out of it. They appeared not to know that a new architecture was about to be born, so that their book is an authentic document of architectural despair."
