Bound completely untrimmed with the original stiff, blue boards in a lovely, modern half morocco binding with the spine neatly gilt. Small stain to the titleleaf; besides that a wonderful copy. * Text in Latin. Written by the Danish Bishop of Seeland who among a variety of talents was a keen collector of antiques; this is a collection of his studies of antiquity.** Den flittige biskop over Sjællands Stift har her samlet en del af sine oldtidsstudier - bl.a. over besjælede sten, meteorer og om de vandalske kongers mønter.

Den tyske teolog og orientalist Johann David Michaelis (1717-91) virkede ved universitet i Göttingen. Hans væsentligste rolle i forhold til Danmark var den konsulentvirksomhed, han udøvede for den hannoveranskfødte danske udenrigsminister J.H.E. Bernstorff, Det var Michaelis, der foreslog, at Danmark-Norge udsendte en lærd ekspedition til Arabien, dengang betegnet Arabia Felix, for at udforske Bibelens baggrund og kilder. Carsten Niebuhr og hans rejsefæller opnåede adskilligt andet.

Heiberg udsendte dette tidsskrift i forbindelse med processen mod ham samme år. Dommen faldt d. 24. december 1799 og lød på livsvarig landsforvisning for på skrift at have udfordret kronprins Frederiks enevoldsmagt, hovedsagelig i skikkelse af Christian Colbiørnsen. Derfor blev "Læsning for Publikum No. 37" det sidste skrift, P.A. Heiberg fik udsendt i Danmark. Net eksemplar.
