Slight foxing here and there, but still a lovely set indeed. * Schiller's historical work was continued after his death in 1805, so the last to volumes were finished by Karl Curths.** The set is complete, but the tome numbers at the spines might cause some confusion: They are labelled 1/1, 1/2, 3, 4 and 5, but the volume labelled '3' is actually the second part and so forth.

Bound in a lovely full morocco binding with the title stamped in gold to the upper board. Spine richly gilt. A bit of foxing to the engraved titleleaf, but besides that a very nice copy on bright white paper with only a bit of foxing to the lower margin. Inner hinges a bit weak for the first leaves. Armorial bookplate inserted. * Nice copy. With prospects of Lausanne (frontespiece), Thun, Lausanne, Genève, Interlaken, Zürich, Fribourg, Trento, Tronsberg, Innsbruck and Feldkirch.

Povl Christensen kunne som tilrettelægger binde billeder og typografi sammen, så denne bog kom til at stå som en af de smukkeste og mest helstøbte ikke blot i hans produktion, men i dansk bogkunst overhovedet." "Når det i hans første store arbejde, Blichers 'Brudstykker af en Landsbydegns Dagbog' er lykkedes ham at lade en forlængst forbigangen tid genopstå, skyldes det naturligvis ikke, at han efterlignede en stilart, men at han indlevede sig i et tankesæt. Titlepage and last page with some foxing. * First English edition of Helwig´s historical table, where the history of the world (i.e. Europe) is presented in columns from the creation of the world until 1636, here prolonged to 1689 (the last columns, of course, are not filled out). First edition was published in Marburg 1609.** Christopher Helwig (1581-1617) was professor in Hebrew at the University of Giessen.
