Uncut in publishers cased binding. Lower spine-end cracked. A few plates with foxing due to paper quality. Otherwise a remarkably fresh copy of this attractive book. * First edition came 1823 and is identical to this edition. Parts of the pagination in the first chapters have been change from Arab into Roman numerals. A. Andersen Feldborg was a Dane living in England right from the beginning of the 19th century. He made large efforts to open his new countrymens' eyes for the qualities of his native country, despite the Anglo-Danish wars of 1801 and 1807-14. Among the artists behind the plates are C.W. Eckersberg, the founder of Danish Golden Age painting.

Old stamp and names to the red and black titleleaf of the first volume. Stamp and name to the flyleaf of the second volume [where there is no seperate titleleaf, nor should there be]. Beautifully marbled pastedowns. * A very charming set, Parallel text in Latin and Greek.

(2)+226 leaves. Bound in a nice, modern pastiche half calf binding. Margins dampstained. Leaves 43-47 with traces after a burn with a little text loss. Slight loss of text to the dedication leaf, due to an old restoration to the inner margin. The edges and corners of the first and last leaves are chipped and fragile. A few ink spots here and there, but without text loss. * Text in Latin and Italian. Scarce edition of Sessa's beautiful Cicero edition. The copy is rather battered on the inside, but has been saved by a nice binding.

Ubeskåret i orig. kartonnager med lærredsryg og bogtrykte rygtitelfelter. Lidt gulplettet. Bogblokkene sidder lidt løse i bindene (men holder stadig). Rygge og kanter med slitage. Ryggen på bind 1 noget plettet og meget lysere end på de to andre bind. * Et lidt slidt sæt af den sjældne førsteudgave af Steen Billes rejseberetning. Formålet med Steen Billes lange togt 1845-47 var at overdrage de danske besiddelser i Indien til Storbritannien, indlede kolonisering af Nikobarerne og foretage etnografiske og hydrografiske undersøgelser. Koloniseringen af Nikobarerne blev hurtigt opgivet, men Bille hjembragte betydeligt videnskabeligt materiale. ** Account on the Danish circumnavigation of the globe 1845-47. The purpose of the voyage was to lead the transition of the Danish colonies in India to Britain and to gather scientific material. Bille´s account is illustrated with etnographic litographs and maps.

Hendes tekst er så slidstærk, at den blev betragtet som den autoritative danske oversættelse og udgivet igen og igen frem til 1990'erne, da hele to forlag lod hver sin oversætter tage fat med hele to udgaver til følge. Spændende, om den ene eller begge kan leve i over 200 år.
