Bookplate of the library of Säftstaholm. Blue owner´s stamp on first free endpaper. Some slight foxing. 15,5 X 10 cm. Second edition. First edition was published 1746.

Blind pressed decoration along edge of leather binding on front andback cover.First text page mended. Illustrated with nearly 400 engravings in the text and 30 separate oleographs. Good condition.

Some underlinings. The upper corner on the front board with a small piece missing. The lower corner on the back board with small loss of leather. Little worming on the back board and front hinge. 0,5 X 3,5 cm leather missing on the head of the spine.

Halvskinnband med marmorerade pärmar och snitt (G. A. Andersson, Bokbinderi, Örebro). Tvärformat 24 X 31 cm. Skinn och pärmpapper nött vid kanterna. Två stycken 1 cm revor i ryggfoten. Utgavs ursprungligen i 22 häften mellan 1856 och 1871 och omfattade 352 sidor och 84 planscher. Texten utvidgades efter Sundevalls död av Johan Gustaf Hjalmar Kinberg med 2 010 sidor.

Volume 1: The vellum is a little loose from the inside of the front board. The fly leaf is worn and with some paperloss. The page with the frontispiece with some paperloss but without damaging the illustration. The vellum on the spine with two tears. Volume 2: Worming on the first 7 pages, front fly leaf and titlepage. Worming on the insides of the boards. Front fly leaf and titlepage with some paperloss. Stain on the boards. Stains on the first 26 pages, front fly leaf and titlepage. This work was condemned to be burned for its false and calumnious content by order of the Parlement of Paris, May 11, 1650.
