En skildring av "almstridens" bakgrund och kulmen, sammanställd av Alternativ Stads Almbladsgrupp. En grupp om tretton almar i Kungsträdgården skulle fällas för att bereda plats för en tunnebanenedgång med butiker. Tusentals stockholmare samlades för att protestera, aktivister ockuperade platsen med tältläger och klättrade upp i träden för att dygnet runt förhindra fällningen. Kulmen nåddes natten till 12 maj 1971 med en sammandrabbning mellan demonstranter och polis. Efter ändrade planer öppnades tunnelbanenedgången långt senare vid Arsenalsgatan, och almarna står fortfarande kvar.
