On front endpaper signed by G(eorg) T(heodor) Chiewitz, the Swedish-Finnish architect, engineer and town planner (1815-1862). A concise version, with a preface by the author, of his illustrated glossary of Classical and Gothic architecture, which first appeared in 1836 and rapidly went through a succession of editions.
