Liverpool, The University Press, 1934. 28x21. 28 pp. + 22 plates with 14 photos, 5 perspective renderings and 19 elevations, plans, etc. Printed wrappers with unobtrusive external wear. (The University of Liverpool). Thirteen of the plates are devoted to the new Leverhulme building, exposed in 12 photos (6 full-page) and five plans. With the backing of Lord Leverhulme, Sir Charles Herbert Reilly had helped establish the Department of Civic Design at Liverpool University, the first place in Britain where town planning and architecture were taught as integrally related subjects. Reilly persuaded Leverhulme to fund a new building, designs for which he produced in 1914. However, the project was postponed due to the war, and the Leverhulme Building finally executed in 1933 was designed by Reilly in a modernist ' International Style' Modernist manner, in collaboration with his former students Lionel Budden and J. E. Marshall. Among the other illustrations are students' models of a casino complex and of a residence for the Duke of Connaught, designs for a Liverpool Concert Hall, the 1933 Rome Scholarship in Architecture winning designs (for a Roadhouse), etc.
