A survey, with commentary by Wienkoop, of English house designs by Fairfax Blomfield Wade (London) and Lawson & Reynolds (Bornemouth). The designs were acquired by the Emperor Wilhelm II on his visit to England, and first published in the magazine Landhaus und Villa "zur Anregung für den deutschen Eigenhausbau". Arthur Wienkoop, who was a prolific architect of villas and workers' homes, also took the opportunity to include some designs of his own in the book.

Some (erasable) underlinings with red crayon pencil in the chapter "Bourdon et Christine de Suède" (pp. 91-144). Life and work of the French painter and engraver Sébastien Bourdon (1616-1671). Bourdon was appointed first court painter by Queen Christina during his stay in Sweden 1652-53, and painted her portrait as well as those of her successor for the throne, Karl X Gustav, and the illegitimate son of King Gustav II Adolf, Gustaf Gustafsson af Vasaborg.
