Schülke's work is a treatise on sound housing describing the effects of the state of lighting, heating, air, water, foundation and ground on the health of inhabitants as well as the technical means to achieve satisfactory conditions.

Stockholm, Norstedt, 1914. 22x14. VI+26 s. Tryckt på tjockt kvalitetspapper, med omslag tryckta i grönt. Fint exemplar av en ovanlig publikation. En fördömande och öppet hånfull kritik av Isaac Grünewalds tävlingsbidrag för dekorering av vigselrummet i Stockholms nya rådhus. Denna skrift utgavs, med förord av Carl G. Laurin, efter att Grünewalds förslag till väggmålning hade vunnit i andra tävlingsomgången och skulle gå vidare till till den sista avgörande tävlingen. Gauffin polemiserar mot August Brunius som uttryckt sin beundran för förslaget, och han avslutar med ett öppet brev till Richard Bergh som var ledamot i prisnämnden. Lovord över förslaget betraktar han som ett utslag av "den suggestiva makt, som modernitetsbluffen i våra dagar har visat sig äga" och han förutspår att Grünewalds konst snart kommer att vara bortglömd. Den omstridda väggmålningen kom inte att utföras i vigselrummet, men betraktas idag som ett av den svenska expressionismens genombrottsverk.
