Original cloth with blindtooled decoration, top edges gilt, spines lighty sunned and lighty worn at head and foot. Third edition. John Henry Parker - later first keeper of the Ashmolean Museum - devoted much attention to the production of a number of influential architectural handbooks. The illustrated Glossary first appeared in 1836 and rapidly went through a succession of enlarged editions. A volume titled 'Companion to the third edition' appeared in 1841 and is not present in this set.
