Presentation copy inscribed in French by Solange Brand and in Swedish by Per-Olow Leijon (Cultural Attaché at the Swedish embassy in Beijing in the late 1960s). Enclosed is an issue of Le Monde Diplomatique (October 2009) with an article by Solange Brand: 'China's Cultural Revolution Revisited'. This photographic narrative of the rumblings of the rising Chinese Cultural Revolution was made in Beijing in 1966 by Solange Brand, then a nineteen year-old secretary at the French Embassy. Includes texts by Solange Brand, Per-Olow Leijon, and Françoise Denoyelle, as well as reminiscences and statements by Chinese journalists and other contributors.

A landmark event inasmuch as Hirst auctioned his own works directly, bypassing traditional galleries, and set a record for a single-artist auction with a total of almost £111 million.
