A description of the the church at the Riddarholmen island in Stockholm, first built as an abbey in the 13th century. Rothlieb's work was a timely publication in that it appeared thirteen years before the church was damaged by fire; when restored in 1838-41, the new towers were provided with latticed forged-iron spires on the initiative of Samuel Owen.

Former owners' names on front endpaper, the first dated Edinburg 1935, the second by Eva von Zweigbergk dated Stockholm 1960. Splendid survey of some 120 modern villas, with more than 85 examples of ultramodern 'International Style'. Although some of the famous exponents of this style are represented, the strength of the book is the inclusion of prominent Modernist architects of lesser fame, including thirty-eight from Britain as well as examples from France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Greece, Iceland, Norway, the USA, Australia, Japan, and South Africa. The text is written in Charles Kay Odgen's Basic English with its vocabulary of only 850 core words.
