Skapandet av en Svensk Nationell Dräkt skedde efter påbud av Gustav III. 1778 publicerades vardera en plansch med modellritning över dräkten för herrar respektive damer, och Jonas Brolin uppdrogs att skriva de beskrivningar av dräkterna som trycktes samma år. I inledningen indelas fruntimmersdräkten i "twänne slag, som är 1:o Kongeliga och Fursteliga Hof-Drägten, 2:o Allmänna Drägten", därefter följer detaljerade beskrivningar av Fruntimmers Klädedrägten i gemen, Fruntimmers-Råcken, Lifwet eller Corsetten, Skjärpet, Kjortelen, samt Hals-Kragar. Fruntimmersdräkten blev inte särskilt populär (om dess reception och vidare öden, se Eva Bergman, 'Nationella dräkten. En studie i Gustaf III:s dräktreform 1778' (Stockholm 1938).

Construction of the edifice began in 1248 but was halted unfinIshed in 1473. The cathedral completed, essentially to the original mediaeval plan, is the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe.
