Printed wrappers; front wrapper and pagination in Bauhaus style typography. A fine copy with minor traces of handling. On inside of front wrapper neatly inscribed in ink "Gunnar Jungmarker 1932" (Swedish art scholar and art critic). At top of the inside of rear wrapper there is a pencil inscription "Gummeson 1.50" in Jungmarker's handwriting. Kandinsky had been exhibiting at the Gummeson art gallery in Stockholm in 1916 and 1922, and this 1930 publication may well have been for sale there.

Gurlitt was one of the first to lecture on urban planning at German technical universities, and as Professor at the Technische Universität Dresden, he was the supervisor of Hermann Muthesius's doctoral thesis.

Yuan 270. The catalogue of the tentative "rehearsal" for the groundbreaking International Exhibition of Chinese Art to be held in London. After deciding to participate in the exhibition, the National Government established an artistic Organising Committee, who collaborated with the British selection committee in recommending pieces from the holdings of public collections to be sent to London. The finalised collection was gathered in Shanghai and exhibited in the former German Club. The catalogue includes a 26-page essay on Chinese porcelain by Kuo P'ao-Chang. "The whole process of selecting, exhibiting and viewing in the Preliminary Exhibition affected the way in which Chinese Scholars constructed anew the history of art in China (Guo, Hui: Writing Chinese Art History in Early Twentieth-Century China. Leiden 2010, 138f).
