Catalogue Raisonné, with a biographical essay, of the engraved works of Georg Friedrich Schmidt (1712-1775), the appointed engraver to Frederick II in Berlin, who was summoned to Saint Petersburg in 1775 by the Empress Elizabeth to engrave her portrait and to organise a school of engraving. A translation of a work first published in French, revised and extended by the translator.

A comprehensive photographic documentation of the Hôtel Beauharnais in Paris and its interiors including decorated ceilings, doors, Empire-style furniture, clocks, candelabrae, etc. The building was erected in the early 18th century to the design of Germain Boffrand who sold it to the marquis de Torcy; among the subsequent owners was Eugene de Beauharnais, son of the First Consul for Napoleon Bonaparte. At the proclamation of the German Empire in 1871, the Hôtel Beauharnais became the embassy of the new state, and continued to be the German Embassy till the end of the Second World War, when it was confiscated by the French state.

In 1954, Gio Ponti and Alberto Rosselli had teamed up with the Italian company La Rinascente to set up the important Compasso d'Oro design award.
